I love tuna. I make my own tuna fish cakes which are easy to do.

Neither here nor there
Bit of olive oil and black pepper, straight onto a grill,, minute or so either side until brown outside and a bit pink in the middle.

Great with a salad of beans, red onion, garlic, chopped pepper, parsley, lemon zest and a dressing of oil, vinegar and honey. Couple of hard boiled eggs on the side and some salad leaves, glass of cold Chablis. What's not to like?

flash fry em

This. Don't put them anywhere near the oven. By flash fry them Springal really means flash fry, a minute at most on each side, probably less. Serve on a bed of noodles, with some chilli, spring onions, coriander and pak choi. Maybe cashews too, or some sesame oil (tiny amount though) if you have some.

Best suggestion so far i'd say.

Really don't want to be over cooking fresh tuna or you might as well just have it out of a tin, it should be effectively raw in the middle. tuna.jpg

if you dont like your meat pink then you have spunked your money on tuna , it's best eaten rare , seared as the other guys have said in a very hot pan for a maximum of two minutes each side , green salad , brownrice with walnut and balsamic dressing and a bit of horseradish or wasabi .......av it .

The world’s finest tuna is mostly eaten raw, at the very least the cheaper supermarket tuna should be eaten very rare. I wouldn’t be put off, unlike an extremely rare beef steak it won’t leave your plate awash with blood.

I’d definitely recommend trying it raw in the middle first, I think you’ll be surprised. If you really find it that unpalatable, you can always chuck it back on for a minute or so.

Really, really fresh tuna is absolutely delicious, either flash fried as others have said or marinaded in lime juice, chilli, garlic, coriander etc to make a ceviche where the acid 'cooks' the fish a bit.

Cooked in a tin foil parcel over a bbq with a little chopped onion, garlic, seasoning and olive oil. Cook until well done and no pink bits remian - tastes lovely that way, really meaty and not at all fishy x

ha, why would you choose fish, then cook the flavour out of it?

Get some honey, spring onions, soy and sesame seeds, mix this up in a cup. Flash fry the steak a minute either side then throw the sauce in until it goes sticky and bubbles. Serve with noodles. Simple.

Why not get your tail down to The Marina and pull out some fresh Mackeral ? can't be beaten this time of year. The thing about fish is that it MUST be fresh to be worth eating. Seeing as Tuna is not indigenous to sussex waters I'd leave any I see on the supermarket shelf.
