Agreed - some very deluded posters. If Potter wouldn’t go to Chelsea then where ? I’m pretty sure Brighton isn’t the height of his ambition.

The only slight doubt would be the Aubameyang signing. Very disruptive and could be difficult to manage, and I doubt Potter could drop him easily

And maybe he's seen how those types of clubs pile on the pressure to perform and just spit managers out so easily and readily when things get a bit tough.

He's just seen what happened to Tuchel, he's not thick and would know full well that could be him in 12 months time verses walking away from what he's building in Brighton before he's seen where it could go.

I've already covered that. If Chelsea is as much as a basket case as people are claiming, if he goes to Chelsea and it goes wrong then it's easily excused. He'll then have the pick of almost any Premier League job that comes up, and probably some attractive options overseas too.

He is a manager on the up and the day will come when he will be approached by any top six club needing a new manager, why would he jump into the maelstrom of Chelsea with a very good chance it could all go wrong very quickly

I can see him replacing Klopp or Pep when they decide to move on in a much more organised and sensible fashion

He really does not to jump as his opportunities will continue to come imo

Since he’s been at Brighton Arsenal have had 2 managers, Spurs 3, United 3, Chelsea 2

It's pretty obvious why to anyone who has ever had any ambition in life or wanted to better themselves at anything.

That may be right; the opposing argument might be that he recognises (as he seems to) that a team of people at the Albion have provided success. He will have only a short time to do that at Chelsea and he may feel the dynamics at the club may not be conducive for him to achieve it quickly enough.....

This. Graham is an intelligent bloke who knows that he can choose his time/place probably. Chelsea and now is not the
right time. It could ruin his career as much as make it. But his strategy imho is not to walk into a shitstorm with kneejerk w*****r
fans and owners.

Potter's relative lack of European experience might put them off but if they do make an offer I imagine he will seriously consider it.

If they decide they really want Potter, he will go. No doubt.

If he's offered that job, there's no way GP is going to turn it down. He's just as ambitious as the players who have left us for "better" things.
One thing is for sure though, he better work his magic bloody quickly, or it'll come to a very quick end.

I've seen and heard enough from him to know he's not going there (not right now at least).

That’s a bold statement, and I hope you are right.
However, there will be a lot of things going through his head regarding the approach. I doubt money will be the major factor although it will be something he considers.
I wonder if ‘loyalty’ will come to the fore. Yes, I know it’s a bit old fashioned as a quality but Tony has shown plenty at times and I think this is something that Potter will consider.
Ultimately though Potter has stated he is ambitious and chances like this won’t come every day.
Anyway, time will tell.

I'm not sure I've seen evidence of that delusion, no-one has said "Of course Chelsea will be interested" - I'm certainly not.

What I (and some others) are saying is that IF Chelsea want him then I believe he will be very, very interested in the position and almost certain to leave.

If they're not interested though, preferring one of the usual big names, then we're all good.

I don't think Potter will leave even if approached. Potter's motivation does not fit the usual give me more cash and I'll jump mould. I think Potter will want to complete his job here and then take on a new challenge after. GP will be picking his next job, this will not be his last opportunity to move on to a new job.

It maybe wishful thinking on my part (almost certainly is) but if Chelsea come calling they are going to have to do a hell of sales job to convince Graham that they will provide him with the environment that he wants to work in.

Why go to a trigger-happy Chelsea now when the England job will be available in around 3 months time?

It's not the right club for him. When Pep leaves Man City, their style of play would suit.

We saw what happened to Nuno at Spurs at the start of last season.

These clubs don't give managers the patience that Tony does.

If it doesn't work, he'd be out before Christmas.

Not Chelsea. And definitely not now.

So we may have to see what TB's plans are. On the playing side we have succession plans, now coming to fruition.
For management, TB must have a Disaster Recovery / Succession plan, but it is far more difficult to implement and update, as it has to be covert until the 'disaster' actually happens.
As always it has to be 'trust in Tony'.

Not really surprising, this is probably biggest risk to derailing our season. Being reported Chelsea have already asked for permission to approach him.
