They have loosed catastrophe on the country because they refused to wear a mask. The worst case scenario is going to come true in the richest and most powerful country in the world. We are in a precipitous decline.

Four more years of Trump will destroy the rule of law in this country and transform our democracy into something we would have all once risen to oppose. We are at an hour of choosing. It is America or Trump. This is a life and death choice. Make no mistake about it.

I think I pretty much said the same thing about a couple of weeks ago, however, I wasn't so eloquent and I didn't get paid.

The press conference is so positive and woolly, the data fantastic, his strategy to get younger folk in the Sun Belt to take care not to spread the virus, and to keeping praying, we’re in God’s capable hands.

America does some things bigger and better than us, including populist lunacy, but the number of reference points to the UK situation in that piece is startling. Politics driven by a fear of 5G, vaccines, of a hidden conspiracy of experts, the lurking power of the metropolitan elite, of George Soros (our conspiracy theorists borrowed him for a while), of fellow nationals who don't look like the rest of us (see Gina Miller), of economic self-harm and fundamental division. And a huge swathe of the population that doesn't see what it is doing to itself.

The worrying thing for Britain is that its self-interest is served by the American nightmare continuing. If Joe Biden beats Donald Trump in the autumn America will have a Europhile president disturbed by Brexit, in no hurry to do a trade deal with the UK and far more likely to build the US's European strategy round close relations with Germany.

Pence blatantly lied tonight at the first press briefing in two months, he said that they’d flattened the cases curve.

Separately, Trump had said that the only reason places such as Europe have lower numbers of cases is because they’re not testing as much as the US.

A note of caution ... virtually everyone seemed to be predicting he wouldn't win the Presidency in 2016. If the Democrats had a candidate that looked like he could serve at least one term without passing on or forgetting his own name/remembering how to put on socks it should be a slam dunk for them.

Trump in big trouble now over emerging stories that he was briefed by intelligence services that Russia has been paying bounty on any American soldiers killed overseas. And did nothing about it after being told.
