On Tuesday, with the US death toll exceeding 12,000, he unleashed a tirade at the WHO, even though it raised the alarm in January, after which he made statements downplaying it and comparing it to the common flu.

“They’ve been wrong about a lot of things,” Trump said at the daily White House coronavirus task force briefing. “And they had a lot of information early and they didn’t want to – they seemed to be very China centric” – implying that the WHO had toed the line of Beijing’s early efforts to minimise the scale of the outbreak.

Shaking his head peevishly, he added: “They called it wrong, they called it wrong. They missed the call. They could have called it months earlier. They would have known and they should have known and they probably did know. So we’ll be looking into that very carefully and we’re going to put a hold on money spent [sic] to the WHO.

“We’re going to put a very powerful hold on it and we’re going to see. It’s a great thing if it works but when they call every shot wrong, it’s not good.”

But soon after, Trump was asked if the middle of a pandemic was the time to suspend money for the WHO. “No, maybe not,” he replied, backtracking from his earlier remark. “I’m not saying I’m going to do it but we’re going to look at.” A reporter interjected: “You did say that –”

Trump retorted: “No, I didn’t, I said we’re going to look at it. We’re going to investigate it, we’re going to look at it. But we will look at ending funding, yeah, because you know what, they called it wrong, and if you look back over the years even, everything seems to be very biased toward China. That’s not right.”

The WHO declared Covid-19 a public health emergency on 30 January, nearly a month before Trump tweeted: “The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA”, and proclaimed: “One day – it’s like a miracle - it will disappear.” He eventually declared a national emergency on 13 March.

I saw this exchange last night. Put the laptop lid down. And trudged upstairs, shaking my head.

That, from the leader of the most powerful nation in the world (maybe), is almost as scary as the virus itself...

And so it is the Democrats corrupt hatchet job on Bernie MK2 ends

It's almost like they want Trump to win by removing all of the best and most effective candidates.

Given the Democrats have been happy to try and dig up any dirt they can on Trump if the Republicans choose to go down that path with Biden he could be exposed big time.

Not sure what the Democrats end goal is by going with him.

Sanders would never have become president. Like Corbyn here, he's too far away from the moveable centre-ground voters, and too set into earnest, difficult policies which would take money from their pockets for the benefit of the poor and the environment.

I have to disagree somewhat. I think with this pandemic and all the medical issues the US are facing with their healthcare system/industries now was a great time for a Bernie like candidate to push a universal style healthcare plan to the masses.

Not many of the candidates had the strength of personality to go toe to toe with Trump, Bernie was the one who certainly did.

A team of Bernie and Yang or Gabbard could have been a formidable one had it formed.

They may have swayed a bunch of independents or undecideds to vote whereas now I can't see those blocks of voters bothering to turn up to vote for Biden.

Sounded highly unlikely to me as well. The guy is just like Johnson - there simply isn't an "off" switch on his bullshit-ometer.

Exactly this. I've long-adopted the approach of not believing a word they say. In the case of Trump, I don't think even HE believes some of the stuff he says. His constant trolling of the media, the US and the rest of the world is so tedious now; if only no-one would bite and just ignore him.

We need a whole new lexicon to deal with Trump. Liar and Idiot just don't adequately describe him. He is so far off the spectrum we can currently describe adequately, he has, literally, broken the language.

Irony is Corbyn and Sanders policies would of hit a note, just as they both exit stage left, when the dust settles on all this ( when ) ,,they would of gained a lot of ground fighting for better pay and conditions of our previously under paid , under valued , key workers, both here and the US .
Trumps poll ratings are falling fast , just pray that continues as his incompetence becomes apparent.

If the Democrats go with Biden, Trump will look positively sane.

Which boggles the mind why they think he's the guy to defeat Trump.

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...f-bill-democrats-small-business-a9457786.html

Democrats blocked Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's attempt Thursday to ram through coronavirus relief legislation to infuse a new small business loan program with an additional $250 billion, saying Mr McConnell's maneuver was a "political stunt" that shut them out of the negotiating process.

One hopes all this all leads to a massive system meltdown and from the ashes a less partisan political system emerges where 3rd and 4th party candidates become legitimate threats to the power bases of the duopoly that now exists at least in terms of representation in the senate.

The number of body bags coming home shocked America into leaving Vietnam. I wonder if this footage may bring about a political change.

Trump will tell you that it is Fake News, these men are merely excavating the stockpile of ventilators and PPE that Trump had buried in readiness for the outbreak.

His press conference just started, earlier today. All you’ve missed so far is:
1. Trump boasting that a final tally of 100,000 deaths will be far less than the 2.2m once predicted. Those early high estimates, were gifts to him, as he plays the Messiah role now.
2. He boasted about this week’s colossal Wall Street markets performance, the best in more than 50 years he said. Omitting to mention the far larger crash beforehand.

Earlier today I was listening to a devote hardcore Republican, who hates Trump come to the conclusion the best result for Bernie's Boys would be a further 4 years of Donny.

He made a lot of sense, basically saying anything other than more Donny f**kwittery and America will revert back to the middle ground.

His buddy the equally thick governor of Florida Ron DeSantis was featured on CNN today. He’s planning a phased opening of Florida schools after Easter (they were originally closed until September), because under 25 years olds aren’t threatened by covid19 apparently. Apart from being a lie, he’s forgotten that the young and teachers would spread the virus. 8 million Floridians are over 60.

-- Insists homosexuality “is a miserable lifestyle”

-- Said the Supreme Court ruling decriminalizing sodomy constituted “a significant explosion that has weakened the infrastructure of our nation, making our collapse inevitable.”

-- Insisted that President Obama’s support for LGBTQ rights paves the way for the Antichrist to come to power

-- Links homosexuality and bestiality: “There are a disproportionate amount of assaults against children by homosexuals than by heterosexuals, you can’t deny that, and the reason is very clear: homosexuality is perverse, it represents a degradation of a person’s mind and if a person will sink that low and there are no restraints from God’s law, then there is no telling to whatever sins he will commit as well."

-- Says of transgender people: “Gender identity confusion is an emotional disorder, that should be treated professionally, and compassionately. Gender identity confusion should not be exploited by social activists like those in the [President Barack] Obama administration who want to deny the God-given distinction between the sexes. This is a rebellion against God's plan.”

-- Insists “A heterosexual shift is a possibility for all homosexuals who are strongly motivated to change.”

Why not be even more inclusive and say marriage can be one man and three women? Who has the right to tell polygamists they can’t express their sexuality? Or what’s to keep a man from marrying his 13-year-old daughter? Or what’s to keep a woman from marrying her cat?”

-- Likened homosexuality to plugging TV into wrong outlet

-- Equated the supposed unfair treatment of anti-LGBT Christians like himself to the treatment of Jews during the Holocaust

-- Preached a two part sermon entitled “Why Gay is Not Okay”

I have a vision of Trump " Watching " the good pastor while sat on his settee in his underpants cramming Big Mac's in his face and Tweeting furiously about perceived injustices.... It's not a nice vision.
