[Albion] Trossard’s medical failure

I don't understand how the Albion can play the game that they did while carrying at least 4 players.
Seemingly, Trossard, Bisouma, Propper & Webster weren't up to it and yet Chelsea were hanging on grateful for a point.

Understand and agree with your sentiment, but quoting my comment on Bissouma is a little off..
he was pretty poor in the first half and we improved massively in the second without him.

A few points.

I never said he was rubbish. He is a very good player but like a lot of good players he only has one strong foot, or relies very heavily on it.

If he could add a bit more from the left foot with the option to run wide and cross he would be immense. There is still time.

yeah there are a fair few posters who cannot see anything but bad in several of our classier players.
I would similarly be incensed by the comments about Spanish Dave not tackling/tracking back, back in the day.

NSC has a habit of overstating performances after a good result so you are not alone.
I would argue that both sides were poor in the first half rather than we held them off. Possibly we just cancelled each other out.
But it wasn't Potter's hardest decision as to who should come off for Connolly.

The most refreshing thing about this season is using the squad, changes at half time, 50-60 minutes Hughton was really frustrating leaving until 70-80 minutes giving the player little time to make an impact.

'Potter just doesn't know his best team'.

I replied:-
'I think he does he just has 18 players in it'.

I can't remember which second half passage of play it was, but Trossard was on their penalty spot and played a ball out to the right corner flag.

But that rather dismisses what he did.

The was completely crowded out.
Facing us.
He held onto the ball for what seemed like too long.
He waited seemingly in slow motion while everything was happening around him.
Then a narrow passage opened.
Trossard then played the ball out to the wing.

So effortless yet showed a level of skill I find hard to comprehend from an Albion player.


Heady days indeed.

Just watched MOTD and this was in the second half. Had any top 6 player passed that ball the way he did they would be 'world class'. I'm in the Trossard In camp and think he is a large part of the way we now play.

I think that when players know that when the manager does not make them start 4 times in 12 days, month after month, because they need to stay fresh, and the team needs to vary its approach (even twice in one game), and that not burning out means a longer and more successful career (that's what I'd tell the buggers, anyway) then individuals will stay onside.

I disagree with the OP. Trossard seems to be good enough off either foot to me.

Even if he wasn't, one of our greatest ever players, a recently retired right back, was so gifted he rarely every felt compelled to do something as vulgar as to let the ball touch his standing foot.

Trossard is also wonderfully gifted. I believe his injury and an adjustment period has also held him back. He won't have faced many defenders with the pace or physicality of Chelsea's before. There is much more to come.

He has incredible vision and can play those balls that other players just do not see or cannot execute. The challenge is getting him regularly into those positions where he can hurt the opposition.

Second half at Chelsea we managed to get him and Mooy up into the pockets out wide between the full backs and midfielders and that is where both do their best work
