The lack of accountability for academies and free schools seems to be a major contributing factor here as local authority control has diminished. We now have a fractured education sector that worships the false idols of competition and 'parental choice' at the expense of educating kids. What a shambles. From what i have read there were indeed some worrying practices at these schools that should indeed be looked at and dealt with. However to blow this issue up into one of the 'islamists are taking over' is nonsense and designed purely to fuel an anti-muslim agenda, that fits into the scapegoating politics we have today.
As for this British values guff, who's values are we talking about here. I thought one of the best things about being British was that we don't feel need the to incessantly bang on about it all the time, unlike the Americans for example who seem to feel the need to assert their nationalism on a daily basis.
