That's the US President dismissing the nonsense metaphor that we've had to endure for the past four decades, and ended up with his predecessor. It's a momentous statement. He followed up with "it's time to grow the economy from the bottom up and the middle out."

Other gems from his speech include:
-- "there is simply no reason why the blades for wind turbines can't be built in Pittsburgh instead of Beijing"
-- "We have all seen the knee of injustice on the neck of Black America"
-- there are "good guys and girls on Wall Street, but Wall Street didn't build this country. The middle class built the country. And the unions built the middle classes."
-- "The most lethal terrorist threat to the homeland today is from white supremacist terrorism"

He's managed to ridicule and disparage right wing populism, neoliberalism, conservatism and fascism in one fell swoop

Wow. That, from a US president, makes our PM seem right wing which, in my lifetime, has never happened. And Boris isn't even particularly right wing (dick, yes, right wing dick, not really).

Is this the bravado of a man who knows he won't live to see the aftermath, said a cynic?

Good luck to him, though.

Elephant in the room (or not in the room): gun control ???

Or, the altruism of an old man planting a tree, the shade of which, he knows he will never sit in?

This speech is the first time I' ve seen Biden being talked about directly in the news for some time. How wonderful is it that we now have a US president who isn't in the news literally every day because he's spewed forth some mad shite?

Good stuff. Also, the apoplectic response of the American right should provide the late-night TV hosts with plenty of material.

And how refreshing it would be here too.

Imagine getting sucked in by that bullshit.

This is the ****er that was VP when in 2008 their bail out funnelled hundreds of billions of dollars to their mates in WS.

Then they green lit the most recent bail outs that benefited the rich again the most.

The US started to go to sh1t when Carter left office in 1981. Before then a college education was assessable for all

Its a little surprise on chancer like Trump has been able to exploit where things ended up.

Encouraging signs from Biden...

Yes a breathe of fresh air to see a leader not constantly in campaign mode. Just getting on with government

Biden's done an excellent job so far, and it's encouraging that he seems to have learn the lessons from the Obama years. It's been funny seeing that all the Republican's just have nothing to attack him on, so they double down on the whole "cancel culture' nonsense.

I notice that all the Trump supporters (bar one cretin) have gone quiet.

Your comment about truthfulness is fair.

Politicians should be meticulous in the accuracy of statements they make. It always annoys me that none are.

You used the word corrupt. Could you expand on that?

'Corrupt' is when a clown comes on NSC in order to piss all over a perfectly decent thread. Again.

So, we have one "lie" (or mistake, perhaps?) from March 2021, one from February 2021, then you have to go back to October 2020 for the next most recent?

What. A. Scumbag.
Surely "False Equivalence" isn't raising its ugly head again ? ???
