Exactly the kind of thing that will cause talented kids to think about going elsewhere…….So they paid us £900k for him. We get a 20% sell-on. So £920k for us.
I actually feel sorry for the player this time. Career path ruined at that his awful club.
I guess we decided that he wasn't worth £1m to get him back. So quite nice that we have actually made more than £1m thanks to the tribunal![]()

Or £1.1m.So they paid us £900k for him. We get a 20% sell-on. So £920k for us.

I think we’d only get 20% of the £100k profit but have no info on the technicalities of our settlement.Or £1.1m.
Ah. I missed that nuance.I think we’d only get 20% of the £100k profit but have no info on the technicalities of our settlement.
Oh, he was a left back. Not sure how I had that tangled up.
Both profit and percentage of the actual sale are possible. Who knows what was agreed as part of the dealI think we’d only get 20% of the £100k profit but have no info on the technicalities of our settlement.
You are probably right - I’d assumed it was 20% of £1m. But a minor detail in the scheme of things. At the end of the day, annoying as his departure to Chelsea was, we didn’t actually lose out.@Jim in the West - don't think we did make more than £1m, as @Hugo Rune has pointed out.
