Would Kandol & Murray be on the pitch long enough together to form a partnership?

Didn't Kandol get sent off 30 seconds after coming on as a sub for Leeds?

20 seconds
.....against Norwich. Hasn't played for Leeds since as Grayson finally lost patience......he would certainly be a risk ???

I don't believe that he would be the "25" goal striker that we
supposedly need. Third choice if you ask me behing Murray and barnes. I personaly
wouldn't get too excited if he came but I trust the messiah and
I am more than happy to be proved wrong but he would get no more than 10-15 goals

It's a realistic shout. He ticks some of the boxes, and we're a forward light, so who knows. Even if he doesn't come I bet he's one of the players Gus has enquired about.

24 league one goals in three seasons isn't quite what we are looking for though surely?

If he is on big money I personally think that could be better spent. He wouldn't be bad cover but I'd prefer us to sign someone a little more prelific if we have that sort of money to spunk on wages.

Just can't see where or how he'd fit in with our style of play.

Doesn't score that many and is a bit lumbering IMHO.

Not for me thanks.

I totally agree that unless he has one of those "purple patch" seasons that strikers sometimes get out of the blue, he isn't going to be a 25 goal a season man. I am not sure, however that anyone can be guaranteed to fulfill that role so I have always discounted it. Certainly if you look at the stats there are only a very few anywhere in any League who manage it consistently and I don't think we are about to bid for Wayne Rooney or that we can poach Lambert from Southampton. Most strikers have one good season, preceeded by, and then followed by, less succesful ones so you tend to look at those who consistently get 15+ and then hope to get the best out of them. If you (and they!) get lucky they will score 25 but if they have an average season they should at least get you their 15 or so goals and you can build around it.

If you could keep him fit enough and motivated enough (ie. no "personal reasons" for not being available) to play, say, 20 games plus 20 off the bench, Kandol's record suggests he will get you 15 or so goals in a season. He didn't really play in the first team at all last season but did ok before that with Leeds and others at around our level. If Barnes were to chip-in with 10+ (quite likely from his form last season) and Murray gets the 20 or so goals he should in a full season then that is clearly a promotion level attack.

The issue of his playing style is valid and I'm really not sure if he could fit in but he has formed good partnerships with Beckford and with Shuwomni where both he and they have scored goals and he has a good record of scoring when coming off the bench which suggests he could be valuable tactically.

As to fitness? He has completed a full pre-season with the Leeds squad so should be reasonably ok - as good as he is going to be anyway. I can't quite fathom why he hasn't gone out on trial or fixed himself up with another club yet when Leeds clearly don't want him and you might wonder about motivation and attitude but he is available now and, ostensibly at least, ticks more boxes than most.

I really don't know whether he is the sort of player that would suit Gus' style of play now but he presumably did 3 years ago and we do know that Gus likes players he knows about. There may also be some mileage in the fact that Kishishev played alongside him when he was (albeit briefly) at Leeds.

Anyway, with 7 days to go until the first game of the season, and Grayson saying that Kandol should be on the move within the next few days, he seems worth noting as "one to keep an eye on" from our perspective. We could certainly do worse and, in terms of experience and a proven eye for goal, I am not sure there is anyone much better available who doesn't involve a big fat fee and who is going to be released by his club on the eve of season.

If we sign him and thats a big "IF" then obviously Gus see's something in him that he likes he has signed him before and if we get him on the cheap might be a very good signing

Does he have three brothers we could sign as well?

If so, we could have four Kandols....

OK, I'll get my coat.
