[Brighton] Tree damage in Preston Park (again)

Yet again, 6 cherry trees have been snapped in half in Preston Park.
A Rowan tree suffered the same fate in the Rockery.
This coincides with a report that a large group of youths were seen on the chalet roof in the Rockery
This was around 18.45 on Saturday, 7th June.
Police informed.
It’s starting to get very depressing

My youth working team have the youth bus that attend Preston park on some evenings. I can get them to swing by the rockery to chat with any young people that they find. It may be one evening a week or every other week as our funding has been cut. PM me more details if you have them

I vandalised things when I was young. Can't really explain why, it didn't really feel like me doing it. I guess some sort of anger / cry for help thing. Stuff is much worse for kids now than it was then. Kept inside away from their friends for years, now fear being made to join the army.

I reckon most people who do this sort of stuff aren't going to go on to be career criminals. They can be reached. Best not to turn this sort of thing into another wedge between young and old.

Also not sure if there was an implication it was travellers. Maybe it was. Again, not much to be gained with stirring hatred with a community. Best thing we can do is engage with them

Gutted for you in particular, @jevs. Preston Park looks so much better today than it did a decade ago - those trees make such a positive impact on the park. Idiots vandalising them aren't worth the change in your pocket. Hopefully the trees can be replaced and I'd be prepared to put my hand in my pocket again to help fund it.
