Treatment of Swindon Fans

I know a lot about our away end,i repair broken seats in there most weeks.

So, you've paid £36 for the train ticket, would you rather pay £20 to sit in that end where you can't properly see the game, or would you decide the extra £4 is worth it to sit in the main stand, closer to the train station and where you have a view of the match? It's not hard to understand them taking the chance. They didn't expect to have much to cheer I wouldn't have thought... It took us all by suprise!

You could see Swindon coming back into it?! At half time my friend was willing to bet that they wouldn't score, I wish I'd taken her up on the offer now! Crazy start to the second half, noone could have seen that coming. They were tosh first half! But as soon as they get ahead in a game, they tend to start playing some good football and creating chances, as we found out to our cost..

Bollocks to that! Football is football, whoever you support. They weren't right to sit in our end and celebrate the goals that basically doom us, but it doesn't mean we should be turning on them like a pack of animals! Christ, perspective.... Football is just a game, the anniversary of Hillsbrough should go a long way to reminding people that in my opinion.

Woosh. My post went right over your head didn't it? Just because I don't want to sit with opposition fans doesn't mean that I'm a hoolie or a vicious thug. I don't want football to lose what makes it great. The pure unadulterated partisan crowds that you get in no other sport. You start mixing home and away fans on any meaningful scale and you lose the atmosphere.

How in hell could we have done the RIGHT SIDE/LEFT SIDE thing at MK Dons last week in a mixed crowd eh?

If away fans have infiltrated the home end and are getting aggressive and looking for trouble, then fair enough. A lot of us have done it, and you do have to keep your gob shut.

If not, then no one likes a grass. If I was them, I wouldn't pay to go in that away end either. It's a disgrace.

Ok, you said; "Bollocks to that. Since when did footie become this "oh, we're all just footie fans let's have a bit of friendly banter at the game" crap?

Football is the greatest sport partly because of it's very tribalism and the passion that you only really really get with the partisan crowds. f*** sake, please dear God don't turn footie into another sanitised rugger bugger sport. That would be the last straw."

I don't want to sit with opposition fans either, I didn't suggest I did. But from reading your post there, the general anger you seemed to feel at people (specifically Notters) not overly minding Swindon fans mingling with our fans made me think, not only are you completely overreacting, but being a bit of an idiot. That said, what you said in the post I quoted has made me change my mind on this.

shouldnt of done , way we've been all season and under slade should of been enough evidence that losing was a very likely outcome.

As for away fans , can't say I mind if they sit respectfully. If they jump about then they should expect abuse IMO

Erm...okay. Is this a stream of consciousness thing with you?

And watch it with the insults. You're on thin ice yourself going around calling people idiots.

Well, yeah.

As I said, after your first contribution that was my opinion, but it changed after the second post when you clarified a bit more.

champion7, thats just my point, there were only three of them and no prior indication that they were Swindon Supporters.
Years ago before all seating stadiums we used to chat to the opposition, discus their individual team members and swap programs, then kept in touch to meet at their ground
at the return game,most enjoyable

Deserved to be slung out and abused. Thats what you get sitting in the home end, regardless of the facilities in the away end. Anyone suggesting otherwise is a bit of a fool. The ground rules are there for a reason.

Of course we did. Many's the time at the Goldstone or Elland Road or Filbert Street or Selhurst where I would be swapping programmes and discussing the relative merits of our back 4 with opposing fans.

Where exactly did you used to watch football? 3rd division in Scotland or something?

last time we played you i sat in your end and kept my mouth shut, simply because i wanted to see the bloody game. However I missed the shouting and being with your mates so opted for away section yesterday.

The sooner Falmer is up and running the better.

I expect the Swindon fans in your stand were only their because the game was all ticket for away supporters, and probarly only realised that once they got to the ground.
