[Brighton] Travel to the stadium

Hey everyone.

I usually walk to the stadium as I lived near Falmer however I have now moved & I'll be travelling into Brighton via bus for the game tomorrow . I have heard so many horror stories over the years of the trains, the park and ride being a disaster at Mill Road etc. What is the 'best' way to get to the stadium nowadays? Considering getting the 25 from the Old Steine. Trying the train or is it worth going to Mill Road and getting the park and ride?

Walking isn't an option for me timewise

Thanks in advance!

We commented at how quiet it was when we arrived. Now I see why.
At least you’re not having to suffer the “lightshow”. 🤬

Racecourse park and ride got us here by the way. However, the driver tried his best to roll it down Falmer Road and luckily only lost a mirror. 😳🫣

Yep, the shit show at the station, barely moving for an hour despite getting there before 6.30 meant we arrived on 20 mins
A bit late for this game obviously, but for future reference if you find yourself stuck in a similar situation... If you come out the station and walk down Trafalgar Street you can pick up a 25 or 49 bus at St Peters Church. There's even the odd 5B that goes from there all the way to the Uni instead of only going as far as Hollingbury Asda. Or, worst comes to worst, get 4 or 5 of you together and catch a cab from out the back of the station. Always good to have a Plan B prepared

I bunked out of work early and got to Brighton station for 5.30 because I knew the OB would give their goons preference over home fans. Should have kettled the back tos in Spoons and made them get the last possible train instead of making law abiding home fans late.

Still, had a good laugh with a very old mate on the 17.40 over and a pint or two with @Hotchilidog and I’d thoroughly recommend getting to the Amex early unless you want to “get involved” next time we play them

Simply pathetic organization at the station. Got there at 6.30 and then missed the first 20 minutes of the game.

No trains moving.
A 3 car train leaving at 10 past 7
A train out of service stuck in one of the platforms
No information given out over the tannoys

Turns out that the police at the station requested that kick off be delayed, but the FA and PL turned the request down. This is what we were told by the OB at the station.

Bloody useless.

Made sure I didn’t get the train this evening for exactly this reason. Police over-reacting and all the usual shenanigans.

It’s because the police put Palace on 1 or 2 trains, so let Brighton fans queue up for ages out the front. Was a bit silly really
Yep, exactly this.
I had a few beers in the Nelson, got to Brighton station around 5.50, and was pleased to be inside and at the front of the queue by the door barriers. "Job done" I thought, especially when a train rolled in. So we waited. And waited. And waited. After about 20 minutes of nobody moving I asked plod what was going on, and he said there was a train arriving from London, the Palace fans would be escorted straight from that onto the waiting train.

I can understand that, but having got there at 5.50, it was bloody annoying not to get on a train till pushing 6.30. Why not more trains ?? I can only imagine the queue behind must've been maHOOsive. Glad I got there when I did.

A lovely post-match 40 minute wait in the rain at Falmer as well (3 trains going the other way before the one to Brighton turned up).

Its SO lovely travelling to and from the Amex these days, isn't it.

If the police wanted the kick off delayed then it would have happened, no one in FA or PL is going to say no on a safety call

I vowed YEARS ago I’d never get the train home ever again. I tried the train TO the Amex for the first time in a while for the Newcastle game (first of the season at home?) It was SHITHOUSE. I paid £60!!! for 3 seats on seagulls travel today, just so I knew I’d get there and back on time and in comfort…

Bozza please get rid of this wavey line shit by the way.

Rape of Hastings, Sussex
A senior police officer outside Brighton station at circa 1750 time as I came up from Trafalgar Street telling his colleagues: 'Don't let any of these f*cking shits through' as everyone got held back in front of the Belle and Grand Central summed it up. I got held up for 25 minutes or so with plenty of others and got The Amex 1845ish and then had to walk to the left of the police to get in.
