Travel to home games - train from Lewes v P&R at Racecourse

Apologies in advance for another tiresome thread on this subject.

I have tickets for the Hull game, I and 3 others will be approaching from the North.

Lord B has kindly given me useful info regarding the Lewes and train option (or to be more precise, parking options for the station). Other option is P&R, from other threads I think that I can discount Mill Road or Mithras options and would appreciate wise words on whether the Racecourse one is a good bet ('scuse pun). I assume it is easy to find, is there much risk of it being full and are the buses reasonably frequent?

For those who do this journey, which is your preference please?

I don't think you have to discount Mithras House, I have used it. To be honest parking in Lewes means a long wait at station and at Mithras means a long wait in the car park queuing for park and ride bus.

Not sure either is better than the other, both bloody slow. If they filled 2 buses at a time or stuffed the trains properly, the matchday experience would be a 10 instead of an 8

The queue for Racecourse P&R always seems to be a lot shorter than the Mithras House and I am very tempted to try Racecourse P&R, so let us know what it's like if you use it.

Racehill is good,i have used it for last 4 games and from parking the car i have always got on the first bus that is there (normally anther bus behind it) and at Falmer within 15min,

The advantage of the train over P&R is that if you haven't got a travel voucher, you can at least buy a train ticket at the station ... assuming these things matter to you.

Never been asked for a voucher at the racecourse. Its always pretty reliable and never full

I have used the race hill for every game, never full just allow a bit of time for the lights at the Downs hotel mid week. After the match have a drink & then get the bus, back at your car in about 10 mins.

The queue for the Racecourse P&R was not good after the Palace game. In fact it was pretty grim.

Might be a one off, but if it happens again Coldean or Moulsecomb will be my Park and Walk.

Train from Lewes is Great we get to town a bit early parkings easier and we've found a little Italian just down from the war memorial, the guy in there (mario) gives everyone with a valid match ticket a free beer with your meal so quids in already lol (havent tried after a game but will ask next time)
Hang around after for another beer and then the trains back are far less crowed, Thats our experiance anyway coming from the east )

Have never used P&R to the ground, but always use racecourse one on way home. Usually hang around for a pint or 2 then get a half empty bus back without queueing.
