Sydney .
NSC has excelled many times before and once again am seeking out local knowledge for some travel tips in the UK.
Driving to Falmouth from Hove in late July and looking for recommendations/accommodation on towns for an overnight stay along the coast.
I'm thinking maybe Weymouth or Lyme Regis but very open to alternative suggestions.
On the way back we're going to head inland on our way to Coldwartham (NW of Storrington) and are interested in stopping at a village/town in the countryside about halfway - maybe Wiltshire ?
Any helpful advice very much appreciated, thank you.

Depends on your budget, Christchurch is nice to stop overnight in the summer - some nice restaurants etc, Weymouth is a bit more run down and b and b sort of a thing.

On the way back maybe Salisbury?

Made several similar journeys down to Exeter when our daughter was at Uni there. Lyme Regis certainly a favourable contender, found the beach, prom harbour & town quite stunning. (much preferred to Weymouth)
Lymington may add some considerable time to your journey as a little off course with the A road in /out & often congested in summer season.
We were pleasantly surprised by Bridport, a vibrant market town with varied antiques, vintage/ retro record shops etc and cafes if thats your thing for a brief interlude to wander and fill a morning.

Going to St Ives in the summer for a week, but taking a couple of days in Bristol on the way down and then stopping to see friends in Chippenham on the way back.

If you want to go along the coast, then Corfe Castle/Swanage area is nice enough to make you question why go all the way to Cornwall?

Wareham is a lovely stop over. Chance to explore nearby Lulworth Cove, Bovington (tank museum) and Corfe Castle (steam railway there too).
