Sorry if there’s already a thread running on this, looking at the trains but you can’t book due to possible maintenance, am I missing something obvious here or are we looking at cars or coaches only?
I've been thinking about a new way of mass travel for when public transport is up shit creek...

Surely all the train companies faced the same challenges? Avanti are a special kind of shambles. My own recent tale of woe involved, amongst other instances of incompetence, being dumped with a trainload of fellow passengers at Rugby station at 2am with no forward plan in situ how to get passengers to their final destination (Preston in our case). To fast forward, we eventually got there around 10 hours late. Utterly dreadful company. You cant book because Avanti didnt train enough drivers during the pandemic and now there is industrial unrest the reliance on people working over time who are now choosing not too means they have no idea how many services can run until very shortly before day of travel. It's an utter shambles which is likely to last a very long time. It takes 18 months to train a driver.
Have you seen the price of helium lately?
