ah ok. i thought you meant you had some special criteria for her or something!

tortola is in the british virgin isles. we went with our kids who were 4 months, 2 and 4ish at the time. booked it at quite short notice and got a really good deal. never gets much below 27c there though.

sort of thinking some of these places are a bit far for an 8 month old on a plane . how have people found kids on the planes and in the heat etc

when my oldest was 8 months old we took him to oman which is an 8 hour flight. it was no trouble at all, in fact he's worse now that he's 2.

and add oman to your list, it's the beautiful, warm and chav free neighbour of dubai. expensive but delightful

sorry, thought you said tropical.

madeira and dubai are also quite nice

also, just had a thought, personally i'd think twice about taking a baby into a malarial zone, and some of the suggested places have a malarial risk albeit low

We have travelled a lot with our children and the under one set are far easier to travel with than the toddlers, like afters said.

I always bring some favourite snacks, a new toy or two and usually in their own seat my children will fall asleep. I just flew with the little starry's in July and Rom was a month older than your little one will be and once she was in her car seat and settled down she fell asleep for half of the flight. The heat has never been a problem for us either. Everything is either air conditioned or we are in and out of the pool.

Like my husband said Tortola is a really great place and was very family friendly while we were there and not at all touristy. I'll also second the Malaysia suggestion above. I would love to go back it was very child friendly, clean, the wildlife/rainforests (Sabah?) were amazing.

BAN THEM !!! I despise babies and toddlers on planes. Whenever I'm checking in I find myself looking around and hoping against hope that none are checking onto the same plane. But then I'm a selfish bastard.

*This (tongue-in-cheek) post brought to you by one who has suffered a four hour night flight back from Greece with a baby that simply did not stop bawling for 4 long, long, long hours.

You want somewhere not too hot...around 25..but with a nice breeze

Real nice hotels, freindly atmos...and a place that defo offers something different, very relaxed and not busy with teenagers and the hotels not like a kids club...so you guys can relax!

I Give to you.....MADEIRA!

morocco is lovely in october, flight isn't too long-haul.

if you fancy something a little further how about gambia/senegal or kenya/tanzania

We took our daughter to Morocco aged 1. The people loved her, blond hair and all that.

I would say Morocco is the limit in terms of flying.

In terms of cots the French owned places provided European standard travel cots, the Moroccan owned places provided something equivalent to a sheet stuffed with straw and I kid you not.

Temperature again on some days got very hot, but apply common sense If you go to Marakech, have a baby rucksack, cos the pollution at ground level and the intensity of bikes, bikes, cars, motor bikes, donkeys etc passing pass you, missing you (your knees) by millimetres will not be funny if you have a buggy.

Obviously the Canaries offer similar climes to Morocco.

Praia da Ruz, Portugal? No need to even worry about babysitting. Apparently.

That's not funny at all. You need to remove that yourself!
