I don't know why you are all getting your knickers in a twist - it will never happen as
the mighty Beach Hut will take the club to court and defeat them single handed.

I read it straight from the horses mouth here on NSC so it must be true!

Only sensible solution. And you will not find one post from me moaning about the fact that i paid the transport levy at Withdean for years when i walked. Again, it was the only sensible solution.

This.

I never used it once at Withers, and will hardly ever use it at the Amex, but still agree it's the best soluton.

Sometimes decisions are made for the greater good, not just for you individually.

At least you now seem to accept that you will have to pay the levy.

Yes. It's a "levy" - not a charge that former employees of British Rail (and their families) feel they have some sort of "legal right" to opt out of because, once upon a time, their trade union negotiated a deal with their former employers.

What ? My legal team is currently being mobilised

Don't mind paying the extra £30. It costs me £10.50 every home game as it is and see hundreds if not thousands of people not paying on the trains.

It is the simplest thing to do, so yes I think it is the right thing to do. it is the checking of tickets that is the problem not the tickets themselves. Whilst I have a valid brian ticket I now have the option of the bus too, so I'm quite happy. At Withdean I did not need the voucher at all for a few seasons but still had to pay for it, so I'm glad I'll get my money's worth. An extra £2.50 on my DD is hardly a huge cross to bear.

Scuse, but what is a "brian ticket" exactly?

I'm not happy with it because the travel zone doesn't apply with me and I'll still have to get a normal train return from Eastbourne. But it's not a huge amount and it means the club gets the expansion. Wouldn't mind the travel zone being extended more East for the trains though.

Can you not buy a ticket to the edge of the zone and then use the travel voucher/season ticket/whatever from there?

Is a return to Lewes cheaper ? I think that is where the travel zone starts.

The correct decision. Stop moaning everyone. There wasn't another solution. Still very good value in my opinion. You could support Arsenal and have to pay £1000 for the cheapest season ticket.

Well done to the club on bringing in a £30 transport levy on ST's and whatever it is on matchday tickets. This will stop the 15,000+ Albion fans stealing from the club when they thought they could travel for free. Looking at the bigger picture , this levy will be seen by B&HCC as part of a sustainable transport strategy when considering the application for the extra 8,000 seats.

Yeah starts Lewes, its 30p more to Falmer though, so with the current system, id be wasting £1.20 a match. Its not the end of the world and it stops the club losing money on people not buying travel vouchers - so its a small price to pay - i mean ST prices arent incredibly expensive anyway.

There wouldn't be fare dodgers if the rail company employed the correct number of staff and checked the tickets at each barrier.

With the hundreds and hundreds of fans pouring into the station at 2.30, I expect getting rid of them quickly is more of a priority

Anyway the thing to do is mail the club about the stupidity of the travel tax, if enough people dissent I suspect it will change with an opt out period where the onus is on the STH to prove to the club they do not need this additional tax.

Thing is though, Beachy, how much did it cost you and your son to travel to Liverpool away? And how much did it cost you to go to Doncaster away? And Middlesborough and in fact any away game? And home games too, come to that? And not just this season. For years and years.

You do very nicely out of your 1st class travel perk, so getting uptight about having to pay £30 a season seems a little unreasonable. Or is it me that is being unreasonable?
