My son and I use one of the football special buses, however talking yesterday to friends and family who have car parking places, they advise that they intend to give up the spaces and start using the buses or P&R facilities due to the travel costs being added to the season ticket costs. The club will need to look again at the capacity available for the trains, football specials and P&R, as there are still times when the current capacity for example on our route (the ‘H’ and ‘S’ buses) is unable to meet with current demand. If we are paying for transport included in our season ticket prices and the buses cut short pickups due to being full, then supporters left waiting at bus stops will have every right to make claims against the club for services that are not being delivered.

Whilst empathising with your predicament, the club are providing options. They don't guarantee that a certain service will be available on demand, just that services will be provided.

In your situation, are you not able to get to the Amex by other combinations of public transport?

Still, I hope the club learn and increase capacity where it is needed.

We pay £360 to park in the Uni; next season our five season tickets (two adults and three children) will cost us £105 more but there will be no way the club will reduce the Uni parking to £255 to compensate.

However, I'm not overly bothered as there isn't any other option for the club to demonstrate to the council that it is encouraging use of public transport AND ensure that those currently getting away with free train and bus travel actually pay their way next season!

Some points to consider:

1. Coach travel via Seagulls Travel and other supporters groups is already subsidised by the club and will continue to be so next season, at a higher rate.

2. The cost of the overall transport scheme (P&R, train and bus travel, coaches) will be heavily subsidised by the club (approx 2/3rds of overall cost).

3. Matchday tickets will have a levy added and ticket holders will have travel options.

4. When pricing near-site parking for next season the club will take into account the levy.

You might want to consider the point made by Insider earlier in this thread.

I could be wrong, but I take that to read that the price for near-site parking will be reduced by £30 to offset the otherwise universal increase.

Surely the biggest mistake was not simply including the travel price in the season ticket cost at the start of this season. Had they done that, we wouldn't even be having this debate. We'd all just be delighted at a relatively well-priced season ticket that comes with the bonus of 'free' travel.

PLUS the option to pay by monthly Direct Debit, which is a massive bonus for most.

It's possible to get to the stadium from ANYWHERE in the conurbation by catching a regular bus to Churchill Square and changing on to a 25.

Entirely agree with that but coupled with the dishonesty of clearly a lot of people who just travelled for nothing

Good point. Putting a monetary value on the travel was probably not the best idea.

I'm not so sure. Like people that purchased the Travel Vouchers this season, and will not see any difference in their layout next season, surely this would apply to people that purchased car parking spaces.

The only people that face an increase are those that didn't have to/ want to purchase Travel Vouchers this season.

As I said I'm not bothered because it's the only correct thing to do but ... a reduction of only £30 when the group in my one car will pay a total of £105 more won't offset the otherwise universal increase!

Twice I've agreed with you in the last 24 hours. What's going on?

I purchased a season ticket of travel vouchers. You have to show them to get on (and off) the platforms at Haywards Heath and also to get off the train at Brighton, but they never look at them to see what voucher it is. I have now used my Leicester voucher for every game since 4th Feb as I know that as long as you have a voucher they dont look at them. It is NOT pratical for them to look at vouchers from Brighton to Falmer due to numbers using the train (sadly a huge number are not paying for this)

I am obviously happy with the change as it works out at roughly £1 for a return journey from Haywards Heath to Falmer and back, but the people abusing the system means some people will unfairly pay more. My mum for example uses a normal service bus with her bus pass but will now pay for something she can use for free.

I also have some mates who have paid for parking at the Uni and there are 5 of them who come in one car, so yes they will get £30 off the parking but they will be paying £150 more for the season tickets, so they are not pleased.

But isn't that exactly the point - to discourage near site parking ? If your mates don't want to pay the extra then the easy answer is to use public transport or, if they must drive, then to use one of the P&R sites.

Anyone travelling regularly on a Saturday from east of Lewes to Falmer will be using a Railcard (if they are sensible). This means that the comparison that needs to be made is between the Off Peak Railcard Return fares to Falmer and Lewes. Do that comparison and you will see that using a ticket to Lewes plus a Travel Voucher is MORE expensive at the moment than just buying a rail ticket to Falmer.

If you can use a Young Person's Railcard or a Senior Railcard, the same applies for evening games - not for Network Railcard holders, though (where a minimum fare applies on Mondays to Fridays).

Of course, once a Travel Voucher is automatically included in the price of a match ticket, it will make sense to buy a rail ticket only to Lewes.

It would be nice, though, if the Club could get the Travel Voucher area extended eastwards as far as it currently extends northwards and westwards. It's a bit of an anomoly that folk can travel all the way from Seaford to Falmer (6 stations) with a Travel Voucher, yet you can't travel from Glynde to Falmer (2 stations) without shelling out cash.

Having got around to reading through this thread, I think this is the only valid point that is worth pursuing with the club. As someone else pointed out, the boundaries are an anomaly from when we were at Withdean. It is inequitable that some can travel the TWELVE stops from Worthing or the EIGHT stops from Haywards Heath to Falmer using a voucher but cannot travel TWO stops from Glynde or catch a bus from Ringmer. When the choice was there, this could at least be taken into account in the mode choice. Now it is a levy (which I am personally fine with) there is a stronger argument for equity. This doesn't affect me personally as I travel from Lewes (and often cycle anyway).

Insider, is this something the Club could consider, a boundary review?

Trouble with changing the boundaries is, if they moved it to say Uckfield and Eastbourne on the edges of the boundaries, then people could ask for it to be moved further out (say to Crowborough or Bexhill/Hastings), where would it stop ?

But it does really need to be looked at, id take Polegate as a boundary as its only about £2 for me to get there by train, so id be able to use it.
