How many of the '5' do you think the Albion will have signed up by the end of the transfer window. I personally think that there will be a full compliment of new faces by the end of Jan. What about you?

We need 5 so I'll go with that.

I think we are kidding ourselves if we think the club are going to bring in 5 new players, we might get a couple in on loan, I gather QPR have a surplus at the moment.

We might get a few from Luton. The players are only on 55% of their wages and the club have no choice but to sell some of the higher earners at cut-prices.

Nobody asked last night whether these 5 players we are reportedly pursuing are loan targets or permanent signings. I should imagine they will be loans, but I'm never convinced that loan players really have our club at heart.

If I'm honest I think we will be lucky if 1 signs by the end of the week - please prove me wrong DK.

The Chairman has somewhat painted himself into a corner by quoting a specific number (ie - 5). If he had simply said, "I'm in discussions with a number of players and hope to be able to bring some new faces at the club by the end of the month..." he wouldn't have built up these unrealistic expectations.
I was surprised he allowed himself to be drawn on quoting a specific number, live on the radio. Not very professional - he should have known that regardless of any riders he subsequently added, people will now start running away with the idea that he will definitely sign 5 new players and 3 or 4 signings will be seen as a failure by the board.

A fair point. I can only assume he is confident of getting them.

It also depends on quality though. If we get 3 decent players then the shortfall will be forgotten.

I disagree. Players go out on loan for all manner of reasons. Whilst they probably do not bleed BHAFC they have all manner of personal motivation which will hopefully see them do well and indirectly have our club at heart.

I really hope we sign five but can't help but think a couple of them might be in the same bracket as when we 'tried' to sign Dichio, Constantine etc knowing we hadn't got a hope in hell...

Why would they think that? In response to a comment that we don't do anything at the beginning of the window hs simply said he is "talking to five players already" on the 4th day of the window. If he said "we will sign five players" then I completely missed it.

all he said was he was in advanced negotiations not we are getting all 5 and its only early days we get a few in the next few days and a few more may turn up by the end of the month.
Have a bit of confidence. Wilkins record in transfers is good.
Did like it when he said he got Forster for a quarter (I think that is what he said) of his value after a year of trying to get him. I think this means we were willing to pay quite a bit more thus implying money is there to spend now

But DK did say he was talking to 5 players. I presume he is talking to them with a view to them signing for Brighton. It is reasonable for supporters to hope, if not expect the club to bring in 5 players when the club clearly recognises there is need for 5. I also presume it is 5 different players and not 1 player and a series of back ups.

You're 100% correct - he didn't state that we will sign 5 new players, but you only need to read some of the posts on here today to see that that is now the expectation in some quarters. I think we are in agreement, but maybe I didn't express myself quite as clearly as I could have done.

Folk seem to have confidence DK will deliver some new faces. So it's not all doom and gloom.

Couple of cheap month long loans on the last day of the window, that'll be it, can't see any permanent signings but hope to be proved wrong.

Deffinetly need a couple, the differance between yesteday and our performance against Swindon which was the last game beofre christmas was plain to see.

We have lost a few players since then and quite simplay they need replaceing, if not its going to be a long second half to the season.

I rekon 2. Richards and a non leaguer. Maybe a short term loan deal on top of that but realli i dont think this will be enough for us to make any push for the play offs.

Anyone who is stupid enough to think we will sign 5 players just because DK said we were talking to 5 players and their agents shouldn't be allowed on the internet.

1 of those 5 i will assume will be Richards, so that leaves 4 others.
