McNulty will stay as cover for Painter... if he signs... Otherwise a fully confident and fit Jimmy Mac is still one of the best LBs in League One and fits in with Poyet's attacking/passing style perfectly.

I like this post, McNulty was everyones darling not so long ago & deservedly so. I would love to see him back with some match fitness under his belt & grow into the player he has the potential to be. There is no disputing Painter is great but we need cover & McNulty deserves the opportunity.

Spot on - Jimmy Mac can't have gone from hero to zero forever unless there is more the the injury than we thought. I'd be delighted to see Paiter sign and Jimmy Mac fight his for his place. We have other issues to resolve, not sure we need to create one at left back by selling McNulty.
