No one has mentioned his reckless tackling.

Anyway, can somebody please answer my original question? Live Transfer News? Bullshitters or is it worth losing any sleep over this rumour?

Yes I'm waiting for someone to answer this too - they all seem to merge into one these poxy transfer accounts...

Although there is something in U.S. Possibly bringing back Tex - according to Bozza...

Vastly over rated on NSC , he influenced very few games last season , he was inconsistent , easily pushed of the ball , can't header or tackle , drifted out of games , to light weight. , I think we need to move on

Very blinkered view, he has bags of obvious talent waiting to be realised and can improve on every aspect you criticise him on.

Probably a good addition to a stronger squad this year. A tad lightweight and petulant when things aren't going his way, but still only young.
However, I'm taking this rumour with a pinch of salt at the moment because we're being linked with everyone who's being off loaded or sent out on long term loan from prem clubs

I'm sure he'll be a considerably better player when in a better team.
And there you have hit the nail on the head. If he held on to the ball too long this time last year, it was at least in part because nobody was making the runs that he would have expected in, say, Liverpool reserves.
I suspect he would be a lot better with Kayal and Stephens behind him than he was at the start of last season, when he was playing with Gardner and JFC behind him! Having the likes of Hemed, Murphy and Zamora to aim for just might make a difference too! Bring him back if it's at all possible.

I wasn't saying they were the same type of player! But they do both play in midfield, and although Kayal has better defensive qualities, he is still a creative playmaker type player, like Teix. So he would be the obvious player to swap out of the current team with us playing a more 4-4-2 formation this season? Having said that, if you play him in midfield in the hole behind the front two where he likes to play, we need a dedicated defensive midfield player (Such as Ince) to sit in front of the back four as Joao wasn't brilliant at tracking back. This would create more of a midfield diamond, and makes us less flexible. With Stevens and Kayal currently in the centre of midfield, they compliment each other by one going forward and the other dropping back to cover, and it's working very well. If you kept our current midfield as it is and we played him up front in a 4-4-1-1 formation, we'd have to drop a natural striker, and we need to have all our strikers up to speed and putting goals away, as they seem to thrive on confidence.
So I just don't know where he would he fit in?

You said he would only come in as a back up for Kayal, so it would be handy if the play similarly. I don't think Teixeira would be right in the centre of a 442.

IMO, he's best in 433 or 451, but I'm no tactical expert. With 2 proper wingers in a 442 we really need 2 solid central midfielders who can win tackles. If we were playing 442, I'd have him as anything (ahead of defence) except the two central midfielders.

He played a bit for Liverpool in pre-season, any idea what formation they played and where he fitted in?

Sorry but you're both utterly, utterly wrong.
Like all young players, especially attacking ones, he makes mistakes/tries a bit too hard/drifts in and out of games. But he's only going to get better and stronger.
Has the potential to far outshine people like Tom Ince and will definitely be a top-half Premier League player one day. Though not for Liverpool.

We'd likely pocket about £10million profit on his sale once he begins to reach his potential and, with the other substantial improvements to the squad, we'd almost certainly go up within the next couple of years.

Oh and btw: even with all of those faults, he managed to be our second-highest scorer last season.

No chance of this though. Way out of our league. Though I wouldn't rule out a second season-long loan by any stretch.

He is however I believe into the final 12 months of his contract at Annfield so maybe not beyond the stretch of imagination and especially as he can probably see things at Brighton having developed for the better !

Offers something entirely different to our current squad. Amazing vision, can unlock a defence and score goals himself. Do you need eleven players that can win headers to win a game? Does Messi win headers? Aguero? Not one for your tough away games granted (see Derby last year) but what an option. In terms of influencing games, did any player have a bigger say in a game last year than Tex at home to Ipswich? I'd have him in a heartbeat if the price was right.

I think you're right. He is more suited to a 4-5-1. He was the sort of player that Poyet and Gracia loved, but I don't know where he would fit in with Hughton's starting 11. There is no doubt that he's a skilful player with plenty of ability, and one that would be a great addition to the squad. He would offer a great alternative if we went 2 up and wanted to take off a striker and shaw up the midfield, but still offering a good counter attacking option. He might be available on loan, but I would just hate for us to be forced to play him every game, as we are playing so well at the moment.

Hughton has said he won't always play 442, so there could be a place, but I'm not sure Teixeira would want to be here to only start some games.
