The official away support for Villa at home was 3258 which is roughly 11% of the capacity of the Amex.
11% of the capacity of Villa park which is stated as 42785 is 4706.
Villa's average attendance this season has been 10000 below capacity.

Where has the 7,000 rumour come from?

Looking at their attendance figures so far; if they only give us 2,500 seats they'll more than likely have at least 4,500 empty ones they could have sold to us. At a guestimated £25 per ticket with an average spend of £5 on beer/pie/soft drink, that's £135,000 in lost sales.

I can't see Villa not taking the cash here as they'll only be playing for pride.

Villa spent £50m on transfer deadline day
12m of that was on a fat striker who they have now loaned out to Forest.
I don't think lost beer money is top of their agenda.

You make a valid point about their wasteful spending but I just hope there is an accountant up their arguing for a larger BHA allocation.

I can't think of another reason they'd give us extra tickets other than some sort of 'gentleman's agreement' with the club over their allocation at the Amex.
