Walked back to Brighton when I saw the queue. Trains to/from Amex are becoming unviable especially for evening games. Made the delayed 11:15 from Brighton, it was rammed due to other cancellations.
OK i now understand what you meant. And what you’re saying is a consequence of having a mixture of different length trains: by chance (and Sod’s Law) the short trains will often be the ones hitting the highest demand. Put on consistently long trains and everything’s fine.Um, yeah, I did know that. Frustrating tho, that the longest of the trains were going in the opposite direction to the largest flow of people at the time when they were most needed
Looks like I missed anything useful for me! In that case will prob drive to lewes, and leave at 80/85ishYou might want to have a quick look. Most buses - including mine are sold out as people bought the 3 match travel ticket. Those that have sold out have been removed from the list. I'm not. Works fine if you're in cycling distance and either on your own or with one or two other people, but otherwise it doesn't. A lot of people live outside Sussex or have limited time to get to the ground from Hastings or Worthing-ish. A lot have booked Seagulls Travel. Many families of three or four drive. And many, like me, go into town before a game and meet groups of friends for a few beers.Yeah, I'm staggered that more people don't cycle. I left Hove Rec just after 7.15 and was in the ground by 7.55. Coming home, I clapped the players off and was back home (not Hove) at 10.20. I live quite close to the ground but I'd cycle wherever was. I used to cycle to Withdean as well as it's by far the easiest way to get away from the game.
Looks OK to me?There's enough spurious complaints about cyclists on NSC already without twenty slightly inebriated MAMILs forming a peloton on the A27 slip road.
Great that you can cycle - agree it would be brilliant if more locals did the same.Yeah, I'm staggered that more people don't cycle. I left Hove Rec just after 7.15 and was in the ground by 7.55. I live in the furthest reaches of Best Sussex.Great that you can cycle - agree it would be brilliant if more locals did the same.
However, the club did a survey a few years ago - BHA have a huge percentage of fans who don't live in Brighton/Hove, for whom cycling is an impossibility.
Personally I hate that so many leave early - I get why they do - but the complete lack of joined up thinking re transport reflects badly on the club IMO
All the time we sell out though, they don't care.
I had no idea the trains would be so bad, how did you know it would be a disaster? The responsibility for joined up thinking doesnt solely rest with the club.
Every single person yesterday knew transport was going to be a cluster**k, and yet most did exactly the same as the Athens game.
Were you the ones the NSK were singing “ you’ve seen Brighton now f*** off home “ to?I left my seat on 87 as I have a long trip and just know the trains will be shite. Got home to Bedford area at 1.45am.
Nice to see you here again, @Stat Brother.I live in the furthest reaches of Best Sussex.

We were caught up in that, it would appear Ajax fans got bored of waiting for buses and decided to walk from the King and Queen so police had to escort them hence traffic held up. Got to our seats 5 minutes before KO, normally we are there a good half hour prior to KOFor those of us murdering climate change deniers, I left home at 5:30 and drove off the a27 at the Asda turn off to go down coldean lane and I have never known it so bad! It took over an hour to get from ditchlin road turnoff down coldean lane to the lewes road and then 40 minutes to get to parking C at the uni.
I got in the ground 15 minutes before KO.
Getting back wasn’t too bad although the queue on the road to get to the a27 roundabout on the slip road took about 20 minutes and got home at around 10:30ish.
Lot of people in the university car parks asking how to get to the ground. Lots of footy tourists there last night
