Trains worked really well for us back to Worthing. Got lucky to get straight on a train at Falmer and Brighton

Same experience before the game - 1 hour before kick off our carriage was practically all empty, despite a queue building at Brighton already

twatfest is not compatible with a healthy lifestyle.

I have not only Twatfest but also the 27 sequels in my film collection, and they have been part of a very healthy lifestyle, provided that said lifestyle involves a 55 inch TV screen, a large piece of liver, a swimming armband, and plenty of lube.

I'm sure some, possibly all of this is a contributory factor. You can't force ppl on the platform to board the next train and if they don't it's probably too late to let an equal number on board the platform to replace them. If they were let more on the platform it might well delay the train. Personally I think a few minutes delay to get more trains filled and not leaving carriages empty would be better but I'm guessing there is a H & S limit to the number of ppl that can be on board the platform. I don't believe the platforms per se are adequately big enough but this was never picked up upon years ago and I doubt the station is gonna change any time soon, more likely never! Ideally those on the ground need to know the number of carriages arriving to ascertain how many they can let onto the platform. If this isn't communicated then you are likely to end up with more threads like this one. Also consider a few more are allowed onto the platform and lets be honest it creates a mad scramble push and someone will get injured before long. It's not an exact science as unless its a special football empty train it will of course already be somewhat occupied, but by how many? Communication is so often the key here, seems its lacking at times.
That's easily enough ascertained, it says it on the indicator board. It's not exactly a surprise 😀

The problem seems confined to the Eastbound platform, they're allowed to queue about six deep on the Brighton-bound platform. No problem there with trains leaving half-empty, tho you might get the last carriage of an 8 carriage train with a bit more space than those at the front

Must be down to the way the queues are being managed on the Eastbound platform

If anything the Brighton bound platform has someone asking people to move down where there are spaces. There never seemed to be anyone on the eastern side coordinating in the same way. It was galling standing on the ramp seeing a train with empty carriages leaving the station. We gave up going home that way.

The problem is people going to Seaford and Eastbourne not getting on the first train, and changing at Lewes. You can of course suggest people get on the first train but you cannot physically force them annoyingly.

here and there
View attachment 171873View attachment 171874Amazing performance on the pitch today, left the Amex walking on air.

Queue heading to Lewes was reasonable, have seen it worse, so was initially on the ramp when train arrived.,then set off. As you can see, this carriage was mainly empty, so why not allow more people down the ramp to board? Things started to get a bit confrontational between train/security staff and fans who were pointing out that there was a huge amount of space that could have been filled. If it had been raining and/or we had lost things would have been far more lairy.

Carried on the down the ramp and I the last person allowed through, there were many, many fans behind me, went to front of platform, awaited next train, boarded and again an almost empty carriage.

We all know transport links at the Amex are imperfect, but it is part of the overall deal. Low level failures such as this, which are not isolated incidents, increase the tensions though.
Not the clubs fault etc?

It shouldn’t. Needs a rethink
There is aways teething problems when opening a new stadium, maybe lessons will be learned and things will run more smoothly and by the time we've been at the Amex for a decade.............

It would have been interesting to see how many selfish idiots were standing on the platform refusing to get on the train as Falmer is a much nicer platform to wait on for your train than Lewes is

Were these carriages 7&8? I heard they do not open at Lewes
They really should let anyone on, numbers permitting, and even into these carriages. I recall one day when we were in the rear of the Seaford -bound train, and wanted to get off at lewes to get the Hastings train following on. Loads were in that carriage and we all just walked on to the carriage where the doors were open -it wasn't a problem as hundreds get off at lewes. It just needs proper communication on the platform and in the train to inform everyone, but then who cares eh?

I wouldn't call them selfish idiots. I'd say many were slightly naive folks who don't use the trains all that often in their everyday lives. They lack the native cunning of the commuter who knows through years of bitter train-related experience that you always get as far down the line to your destination as quickly as possible, then change trains at an intermediate station with a far more pleasant, far less crowded platform

Very much a game of two halves on ST tonight, got to the ground about 18:15 as the traffic was the lightest I’d seen in recent years.

Parked at front on coach park and had a swift exit, wonderful, however merging on to the A27 the coach gear box went meaning we had to crawl in first gear to the A23 where we found second gear temporarily before losing it again through Clayton hill and Hassocks. Surprised we managed to get back at all normally to the coach driver

PBOBE out, this is unacceptable. Why is he not fixing coach gearboxes?

All the Spuds fans leaving on 80 mins?
Could be. The eastbound platform seemed to have more people on it than normal when I was on it and I didn't expect to be able to walk straight on to it. There also seemed to be less staff around than normal which may have had something to do with it too.

The simple answer is that when a train leave the Eastbound platform, anyone left on the platform is herded through the other little gate and sent to the back of the queue. That would soon get the pillocks to change at Lewes.
Liking this idea. If you can pitch it to the board please.
