Hard to tell, if there’s been a landslide then it could be ages, if the water has got in the signalling equipment who knows. Last time this happened the line reopened pretty swiftly

Not going today and a mate who normally drives is getting the train.

Post match getting to Three Bridges, is it quicker to go via Lewes and change or back to Brighton? Not so much the time table, which he can look up more on the queues onto the respective east or westbound Falmer platforms.

Haven’t used the train for a few seasons but recall westbound being significantly busier, assuming that is still the case?

It's roughly the same, TBH. Probably a bit longer to get on a train to Brighton, but more chance of a long wait for the connection at Lewes.

Yes. I would go via Lewes. Fewer queues than at Brighton. And HH to Lewes to Falmer is just a short hop compared to HH to Brighton to Falmer. Also easy to have a pint on the way (Lansdown Arms in Lewes is 2 minutes up the way next to the station for both home/away fans)

The queueing time will almost certainly be shorter going eastbound to Lewes due to the combination of a) there being 8 carriage trains today according to @jackalbion and b) a load of people who insist on waiting at Falmer for a train to their final Eastbourne/Seaford destination rather than just get on the first train to Lewes and change there. In fact you'll probably get a seat as the trains will probably leave half-empty from Falmer for the above reasons!

Coming back to Brighton was fine. Had one pint after game and walked straight on to a Brighton bound train.

Going there I hadn’t noticed that the line was open again. Mrs GB drove us to Falmer early on, picked up some goodies at the farm shop and she took them home while we went to the Swan. Quite civilised really, certainly not what you’ll get in Stoke.

If only they could guarantee to lay on 4 x 8 carriage trains per hour, then everything would be hunky-dory on the train front. Well at least between Brighton-Falmer-Lewes anyways

I travelled by train from/to Haywards Heath, via Brighton both ways, and it was probably the easiest and smoothest journey I've ever had. Straight into a Falmer train at Brighton on the way there - no queue at all, and (leaving NS on the whistle) straight onto the platform at Falmer.
