[Albion] Trains for the Burnley game on Saturday

If there are four eight carriage trains an hour going through Falmer it’d be better than the usual service with short trains. Is that “insider” information or can anyone find out how many carriages will be put on? It’d really help planning my departure from the ground.

Was in the Albert yesterday afternoon and it was dead so had a wonder up to the Evening Star for a couple. Aside from a few Brentford fans that was also dead. So walked back down to the Albert an hour or so later expecting it to be full of at least the post work crowd....nope still dead. Bell and Grand Central also looked empty. Hardly anyone in the Nelson as I walked down the hill to the bus.

Albert had to pay for doorstaff as well.

Trains are packed enough on match days as it is and along with Christmas Shoppers it`s going to be a trek to get in.
Two buses an hour from Lancing. Very little chance of getting on these.

It was always going to be a 'park and cycle' day anyway, the easiest and most convenient way to get to Falmer.

I made exactly this point on the trains for Brentford thread and was joyfully informed by one of NSC’s sages that people in hospitality should “join a union”

Got a loose plan for Saturday that involves early bus to town, one of the pubs near the station and keeping an eye on realtime trains but I’d ideally like a bit more certainty.

Because every other operator is running a normal service, as they have enough drivers to cover a base service without overtime. I don't disagree that the drivers have contributed massively to this one, but you have to ask the question why other operators are running a full service (for example Southeastern).

Which is why I was asking why Southern don't employ more drivers so that they don't have to rely on overtime, which seems crazy. I think you did reply something to the effect that they will try "but good luck with that". I wasn't sure what you meant by that, but assume that the drivers would fight that as it would take away their power to use an overtime ban as a weapon and reduce their earnings. Somehow I can't believe that they are dragged into work shouting and screaming at weekends to work at overtime rates.

I think there are more issues at play, but the recruitment issue is under scrutiny by the DfT atm. I agree with your last point, they are happy to do overtime which is why they are unlikely to strike over Christmas.

I'm confused....
When I check on train line it is showing plenty of trains between Brighton and falmer, but when I check on Southern it is showing no trains at all, just a message about very restricted services...

Miles better as they actually have enough buses
