Where have you read that the locals are not happy with it?

Looks great. I'm sure we have stuck to the plans. Photo versus model is clearly a different elevation, hence the alleged size difference.

How many bats have layed down thier lives for this club ! There should be a banner or at the very least a plaque in place to remind everyone the sacrifice these unsung heroes have made .

Not sure why the club decided white was the best colour. does make it stand out a bit. Looks good though.

My info comes from a website group I belong to that happened to pop up with a few pictures and comments regarding the Training Ground development. Don't get me wrong, it's not an announcement that the Residents are going to petition or anything! Just the fact that of the group who commented, I was the only person who spoke out in defence of the structure. Lot's of "This needs to be raised at the Parish meeting" "No way is that inline with the original plans" "Down with this sort of thing" etc. I pointed out that the 'Tent' was in the original plans but when you look at the Photo compared to the Original plan it does look larger. I agree perspective plays a part.

So as for my senationalist comment in the first post, please don't take it as a representation of all Lancing Residents :)

They don't need to go to any great lengths to have this checked. A simple email or telephone call to the planning dept. will require them to get on site to check the height is in accordance with the permitted drawings.

I would inagine that the covering is designed to let natural light into the interior, in a diffuse way. Any other colour would alter the colour of the diffuse light, so the interior would have permanent mood lighting during the day. :)

I agree, it's the best thing about driving into Newhaven. The scale and design of the beast of a building is pretty awesome.

Unfortunately for the Lancing residents the training ground is a bit of an eyesore, but at least it doesn't give off carcinogenic pollutants. Hopefully the club will make it up to them by letting them use the facilities etc.

Its not an eyesore....if you knew Lancing, you would know that apart from when you look over garden fences in two or three roads adjacent to the site, you cannot see the academy at all......the odd occasional glimpse between houses if you are on mashbarn estate.....that photograph can only have been taken from the top of the lancing manor hill, hardly a view that comes up very often with most of the residents of lancing....too energetic even for those wearing trackies.

judging on the tree position in foreground, this is taken from the downs using a zoom lens

I think it will put lancing on the map

The main building and undercover pitch look great to me. Not sure about the buildings at the front of the photo though. Think they should be gotten rid of.

Naah, we've taken one floor off the admin building, it's the same height it was always going to be!

All this amid rumours that the Albion players, whilst training recently at the England St. Georges facilities, were heard to whisper to Roy Hodgson "Is this it? You should come and see ours."
Sort of makes you proud to be an Albion supporter.

The locals aren't happy with the Indoor Training Pitch!

Don't get me wrong I'm 100% for it but.....

Look at this picture:

The original plan, then look at this picture:

Current status....a bit bigger than envisaged!

Must admit it does look like an overstretched plastic greenhouse covering, but who cares
