Crap Town
We ofter play "spot the Crap Town fan" at Grimsby Town followed by "spot the trainspotter" at Donny.

That would have been the £3 million worth of brand new replica locomotive Tornado which recently featured on Top Gear with Clarkson, probably why so many people were about to see it.

I think you will find that is a REAL locomotive, not a replica!

...after seeing that on top gear I just wanted to have a go at driving (or shovelling coal...firing?) it...that has to be the ultimate in boys toys!

...comparing notes in the office on a Monday morning about what you did over the weekend, I think Tornado would trump a few hours playing with your x-box, posing in a penis extension sports car or strutting your stuff in a local hot-spot!

In my defence, I was left unsupervised.

That's not that new A1 'Peppercorn' Class is it? A 'new' loco built to an old design.

Anyway, as alluded to by Barry Izback, what's the real difference between trainspotters and football groundhoppers? It's all a form of 'collecting' and I must admit when I was younger I used to say things like "I've been to 63 league grounds, how many have you been to?" Then I realised I was sounding like a geeky nerd so I stopped counting.

Ultimately I DO think of all those types of collecting as the pursuits of geeky anoraks (and I call myself a rail enthusiast not a spotter or a gricer and I've NEVER collected numbers), but it's a harmless occupation so fair play to them.

Tornado stopped at Botley on Saturday for half an hour to take on water. I walked up the road the have a nose. It's the first time I've seen it painted in it's Southern Rail green, it was grey before. I left my anorak at home as it was rather warm.
Unfortunately I was so excited I forgot to write it's number down.
