Train Alert - Tomorrow morning (Monday)

FCC have announced that they will be running NO service before 9AM tomorrow, then a revised service after that. Does seem a bit over the top.

ALL Southern/Gatwick Express services tomorrow will be suspended until "declared safe to run".

Travel tomorrow should be avoided at all costs - take a day off with the kids or work from home !!

Ridiculous. Why not wait until a weather event actually happens, if indeed it does. Currently (19:30 Sunday night) in Brighton there's barely a breath of wind, there's no rain, and its about 14 or 15 degrees. Shameful premature showing of the red flag by the trains. Same as it ever was. Wankers.

Yes, ghost trains will run - but not very fast for obvious reasons. Key routes will be checked first too - meaning London - Croydon - Gatwick - then onto Brighton.

You would moan on here regardless of the advance notice or not.....

They've taken precautions, for everyone's safety including the railways own staff. Good on them. If the weather isn't bad as expected, the trains will run as planned. If the weather has caused damage, they obviously won't. Simples.

It's almost literally impossible to argue with some of these people. And they would be the first people to blame the authorities if a train or plane crashes given the advance warning of dodgy weather.

Are you living on another planet? It has been stupidly windy all day and I'm currently looking at the aftermath of the rain pouring down my front window. But that's not even the point.

The storm - if it comes - is going to mean operating any form of transport will be an increased risk especially in the dark. If it doesn't then Network Rail will approve getting things running again PDQ. Would you happily, now, agree to drive a car load of other people's children at 80mph through rural Sussex at 6am tomorrow with no option to back out?

Right MORON, as a train driver myself I'm quite happy for YOU to drive the train and risk your life on a PITCH BLACK track with the possibility of slamming into a tree that won't be visible until it's too late. IDIOT!! All the drivers will be in ready tomorrow, if things aren't as bad as predicted trains will be sent out as soon as possible.

It was a bit over the top, then i had another look at the weather - and it is forecasted to be worse.

The storm won't kick in until most of you are tucked up in bed.

As much as I despise Southern and FCC, this is not their call (Network Rail called this).

It is better to call a shot now,rather than have thousands turn up in the morning for trains, which is the balance of probabilities, may not be running.

Yes, I also live in Preston Park very close to the track. It's not that windy yet which is why trains are currently running fine. Because, let me repeat, the stopping of the trains is only happening when the FORECAST winds hit. If the FORECAST is wrong then so be it - the trains can get going again.

The other thing that will be nailed on is the utter chaos once they get the go ahead to run again, despite having hours to prepare for the re-opening of the lines. Excuses will rumble on till Wednesday.

With the clocks going back, send a train up at 6am as it will be light - if it gets the all clear, trains can start running soon after.

Seems common sense, will be even more ridiculous if the winds come to nothing.

Would i be right in saying that all rostered train crew will be going into work at their normal times tomorrow and that trains will be in the same place over night ?

If so, then a service would be rolled out pretty quickly once the all clear is given.

Cheers. No problem whatsoever with train companies reacting to the weather when it happens. Just got a problem with them showing the white flag before the forecasted weather even looks like materialising.
