Heading home from Dorking now. Was meant to be at the opera tonight but I'm not risking being stranded. It is chucking it down today. Even I am not blaming the rail companies today.

Brighton - Lewes - Eastbourne - Ashford services suspended between Brighton and Eastbourne, presumably to allow London - Brighton services to be diverted.

What chance my trip back to Burgess Hill this evening will not be disrupted? I am thinking zero chance :)

Good job WFH today

Could see this coming, so left work at lunchtime. Got home fine, but the rain was coming down hard and I could see it wouldn't be long before it started to disrupt services.

As it's normally dark on the journey, coming home early I got to see some of the mess. Particularly around Gatwick, those fields are almost completely underwater.

1657 & 1812 London Bdgs to Littlehampton both cancelled if anyone catches them

Flooding now affecting Lewes to Polegate, Horsham to Barnham, Chichester to Portsmouth/Southampton as well as Haywards Hth to Bton

Phew, glad I left early then, the 4:57 is my normal train.

I am the first to criticise Network Rail or Southern Railway but I am not sure you can blame them for this.

If Network Rail have thougt about flood risk for a while now; what exactly have tey done about it?

Nothing of course. Except rub their hands with glee that they can shut down the service yet again and put their feet up tonight. The first sigh of a problem they get the white flags out.
