Tour of Britain watch in two places

The signs are up saying just an hours road closure which is really good planning - I remember the Tour a few years ago over here doing something like 6/7 hour road closures which was massive overkill

Won't there be some stragglers especially after the beacon that will cause the field to stretch out? Will an hour be enough?

You are not wrong BG :) I was walking along London Road in Brighton the other day, when something caught my eye in a shop window. I was just about to change direction and move closer to the window, when a cyclist came past on the pavement from behind across my intended path. A fraction of a second earlier, and there would have been mutual damage done...

That happens no end of times in Franklynn Rd Haywards Heath. My mothers pet hate was a cycle lane on the promenade as she used to point out promenade means to walk.

The Beacon is barely a pimple on the planet compared with what these guys ride up.
Most but not all riders will only drop down a couple of gears, the others won't even do that. (In car talk they'll be going from 5th to 3rd, NOBODY will ride up in in the equivalent of 1st)

But that's just not possible, as it will ruin everything for everyone.

Removing the roundabout won't ruin anything, potential improve it. Why would you think it would ruin it?
But to do so would be very time consuming, expensive and a waste of already stretched resources, but it wouldn't ruin anything???
I wonder how I could possibly come to the conclusion that roundabout removal could ruin everything for everyone.
Oh yes I remember now ...

There is no way there are going toto remove the roundabout, what with the already road works in two place further along the seafront the affected already costly tailbacks that occurred the road could not cope with another road works, in addition the resources of the council for current road works are already considerably stretched.
Whilst i appreciate as a sport its is important to you, in the bigger scheme of things its not for most people and the costs for doing it, not just the actual financial cost but the knock for commuters and business users would be just too great.
Along with this it is simply not possible to be able to do it in less than 7 days.

So none will get off and push it up.

What's the normal length of a stage in distance and the time difference between winner and last?

I've read it, and read it again, where has it been said it will ruin it ??? Please hi light where it says it will ruin it
You seeing something that is not there, I've said it would cause chaos if they remove it, and it would be a financial strain and a waste of stretched resources, nowhere have I said the roundabout would be ruined.

I was hoping to watch at Uckfield, Newhaven and Brighton but it might be a bit tight getting to Brighton faster than them. I can't think you would have to leg it from Haywards Heath to Brighton, you'd have plenty of time to cycle it.

Why did this get a thumbs down?!

For the bazillionth time on NSC my 9 year old son rode up Ditchling Sunday before last, without stopping, getting off, or pushing.

What's the normal length of a stage in distance and the time difference between winner and last?
Today's ToB stage that was also lumpy, a la Saturday and was 200kms long.
The first to last time difference was 11mins 55secs.
The Brighton stage is 225kms.

Today's stage in the Vuelta (Tour of Spain) was mountainous and 160kms long.
Of those 160kms, 5,632 m were going up mountains.
The final 5 kms of that was comparable to Ditchling, only longer.
The first to last time difference was 34 mins.
