Toughest pubs in Britain

The Mighty Fine, on the end of Commercial Road Pompey had an eclectic clientele in the early Eighties. Blacked out windows, and barmaids with more tattoos than most matelots, at a time when not many women had ink.
A few in there, and then on to The Bistro, (Beasties) in Southsea, a top night out.

Been to both of those good old pubs and clubs What was the other one called Lennox ?

Many of you will remember the Bosun in West Street. But, if we’re talking about current pubs I’d have thought a few in Newhaven would be at the top of the list?

We are friendly people in this town, come to Newhaven it's nothing like West Street

Don't know what it's like now but the Desert Rat in Reigate had a tough reputation for a while. I recall the chap with one arm who used to threaten you to play him at pool and then make you play him with one arm behind your back. Giving rise to the infamous and ill-fated "one-armed pool tournament of 1997"


And The Alma in Bolton where instead of a sup up bell they would get the chainsaw out of the cupboard, fire it up and chase people out of the pub while waving it around. I wasn't there this night but that practice ended when the a customer got hold of it after some argument over pool but swung it into his own thigh.
It was near a porn shop called "Softy's Hard Stuff".
