RB: James Milner - 2/10 - Beaten from pillar to post by Doku, Silva and Gvardiol. Can't fault his work rate but his 37-year-old legs were never going to be up to the task. Hooked at half-time.

LB: Solly March - 4/10 - Offered very little up against Foden and failed to make any real impact in attack either. Stretchered off with a scary injury in stoppage time.

DM: Carlos Baleba - 4/10 - Gave the ball away for the second goal in what was an erratic, ill-disciplined performance. Plenty of work to do to fit into this Brighton team.

RM: Simon Adingra - 3/10 - Looked out of his depth against this sort of quality. Had very little to offer and was guilty of a lazy offside as well.

AM: Joao Pedro - 4/10 - Struggled to offer the outlet needed. Poor first touch saw Brighton lose possession unnecessarily.

Do quite like this though....... well, maybe 'like' isn't quite the right word, but....................

Manager

Roberto De Zerbi - 4/10 - To turn up at the Etihad with 37-year-old Milner and former winger March as your full-backs is tactical suicide. Figured out his mistake at half-time but the damage was done. Visibly fuming towards the end of the game.

Handed the points to Guardiola.

Hack
Tom Gott - 2/10 - To turn up without doing any research is journalistic suicide. Never figured out his mistake that Solly's not a former winger. He's a winger who was only playing at full back because of injuries to RDZ's first two left back choices.

Solly is a former winger playing FB. The real (and valid) point is that turning up with 37 year old Milner at FB was suicidal tactics.

Milner was awful like every other time he has played RB for us.

I’d agree with them Baleba. Not there yet is he? No coincidence we had our best spell when Gilmour replaced him.
They have the potential to make a good pairing though. Would like to see more of them together but we just don't have the depth. I really feel like we didn't bring in enough depth over the summer for this season and it is starting to show.

Not unlike our heavy defeat at Aston Villa, when he played littgle Billy Gilmour and young untested Jack Hinshelwood in midfield. He seemed surprised when they were botch completely overrun by Villa's big powerful midfielders.

Yesterday's game was virtually a free hit though, it's the side that he is able to select for Thursday night's game that is more important.

March was fine. It was our right that was the problem

We all think the truth, the difference is we’re not afraid to say it.
