By the way, Hastings gull is correct when he talks about there being more career Labour MPs who have barely done a day's work, than Tory ones.

Case in point: My Oxbridge educated cousin is a tiresome right-on Labour activist and his whole life is being geared around being an MP. I hope he never makes it. In fact, my heart will sink if he does. Why? Well he grew up NEVER having taken so much as a part time job (thanks to his mollicoddling parents). Then of course, he came out of Oxford apparently expecting a decent job to fall into his lap. But who in their right mind is going to give a well paid job to someone who has literally *never* worked? So now he is doing some very dull job (which is fine, as we all have to start somewhere) but instead of knuckling down with a career path in mind, he's hell bent on reaching the upper echelons of the Labour party with a hope of being selected as an MP candidate.

Seriously, how is putting up someone like this doing any good to the country? It is no better than having silver-spooned gimp Call Me Dave running the country.

With the Lib Dems having understandably been taken to the cleaners, and the prevalence of the UKIP little Englanders, I am just so depressed by the state of British politics at the moment. I really don't want to vote for any party.
Did he do PPE ??

So where would all the money come from for Corbyn to deliver on all his promises. The state takes substantially more than 50% from most wage earners. Income Tax,National insurance,Vat at 20% on nearly everthing,Council Tax,Duty on Petrol Alchohol and Tobacco.
I'm talking specifically about tax on income.

And I'd quite happily bin Trident and lower VAT with the proceeds.

Politics, philosophy and economics, seems to be the standard degree for wannabe politicians of whatever hue.
I really have no idea and I don't care.

A degree is simply a vehicle to show that you are capable of learning. Some are more useful than others, some are tougher to complete than others. But simply doing one alone doesn't fulfil what I'd consider a basic requirement of someone who should represent the people in a democratically elected parliament.

OK, missed that part. It's just that in your eyes, Labour can do now wrong and the Tories can do no right. When blinkered views like yours, sensible debate is impossible. Personally, I think all politicians are in it for themselves.

if you had kept an eye on my posts you would have seen thay I think exactly the same.
Labour can do no wrong I have sad constantly that they were watered down tories and they were
NOW we have a very left wing leader a true socialist I have rejoined the party and you would have already seen that too if you had read all my posts.
we have a leader who whatever anyone says is at least honest.....................can you say that about any watered down tory or tory now.
I have always been a socialist and republican, never hidden from that fact and the reason you don't like any of my reasoned debate is because you take the opposite view, I understand this and except it

It would seem that having a conscience is not really relevant to the Tories at all: otherwise why are they totally indifferent to the selling of billions of pounds worth of weapons to a medieval state which proceeds to kill over 500 children ?

Firstly I find it disgusting that the UK sells arms to terrorist governments such as Saudi Arabia and Israel BUT to imply it's just Tory governments that do this shows a complete imbalance. Labour did likewise - indeed arms exports to Israel doubled in 2002 under Labour.

“Sometimes people hold a core belief that is very strong. When they are
presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new
evidence cannot be accepted. It would create a feeling that is
extremely uncomfortable, called cognitive dissonance. And because it
is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize,
ignore and even deny anything that doesn't fit in with the core belief.”

One small catch ..... we don't use PR ( although we should ) so the comparison between strike votes and how we currently elect our representatives is currently utterly false.

How can you balance a support for PR with support for restrictions on democracy for another institution? Should the rules of democracy be applied differently to institutions that the state doesn't like?

Yes, we know from your statements but I would question whether it is reasoned to state what I have highlighted. TC loves to portray the fact that he is honest, but it is easy to be "honest" when you are on the back benches. Time will tell how "honest" he turns out to be. But on reflection do you really think that it is a reasoned argument to ask if any single "watered down Tory "etc is honest. How can you possibly be in a position to make such a judgement?

Yes, the sign of the fanatic. How many incredibly exaggerated comments have we had already on this thread?

Yes, agreed that that left a stain on parliament, but this is dreadfully simplistic. As a matter of interest, and this is NOT loaded, how many MPS were actually fined/jailed/cautioned in the end?

to few
