Bath, Somerset.
Nowhere near as funny but former Tory minister Esther McVey has made a total arse of herself by comparing Starmer's proposal to extend the smoking ban with the "First they came" poem. Whether she thought it was clever or funny I have no idea but it is neither. Here is the poem:

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
Except for the Daily Mail, Daily Express, The Sun, Daily Telegraph, The Times, and GBNews :dunce:

Just heard on Channel 5 News that Priti Patel (she of the wave machine to repel drown migrants) is out of the Tory leadership contest.

There is a God after all.

Patel was the one I wanted out. She has another level of nastiness.

All the others are playing at it.
There was no joke in my post. I mean it.

They were all singing to the choir. Pitching to what they now believe is important in the Tory party, and what they hope will bring them salvation.

Cleverly still 'believes' Rwanda has got legs. ffs. FFS.

They don't get it. They never will. They will be in the wilderness for a generation.

I heard rumours (online) that Pritti might be jumping ship to Reform.

Nothing would surprise me but Reform have very quickly become irrelevant. Especially after they are largely perceived to have been instigators / advocates of the recent riots and disorder. Their ship quickly ran aground.

I think she has more ambition than a party of derided outliers.

But as I say, it’d not surprise me. She’d fit in rather well.

@ spence, I know you're trying to put on a brave face. I get that.

But Sunak lost the election.

Now hardline Priti has failed at her own Tory MP ballot box. Suella didn't even get a look in. What's going on?
The constituency that the Tories went for, blue collar labour voters, have kicked you lot into touch. Your issue seems to be that you still haven't noticed.

If you want to be popular in the Tories, and you happen to be black, then the one thing you need to be is........the real deal.

‘They’ have destroyed the Tory party, enabled by the likes of Murdoch.

I’m not a right winger but I still believe the loss of a centre right Conservative Party is damaging to the country.

What’s happening in Europe could happen here. Be careful everyone.

A testament to her judgement.

From a burning boat into a punctured dinghy.

They report news between 'Tricia' and 'teatime shame porn'?

There's an upturn!

I'm with you. The right wing vote is split, and I agree that a strong Labour government needs a centre right Conservative party.

For reasons that I don't quite understand, (beyond FPTP), the far right Reform party is not enjoying the same success as other far right parties in Europe.

I thinks its down to the fact that as a nation we hate f***ing racist pricks.
