I am grateful for Rishi and the Conservatives having a plan, but as always the devil is in the detail. It would be useful to understand the phasing of the £12bn savings on welfare. Will it be year 2 or year 3 when we start eating the poor and the sick?
Should the occasion arise, you all have my permission to eat me.

If the party collapses, then Tories need to remember that Boris Johnson did this.

Ultimately, he is responsible for gutting that party of any centrist talent it had and replacing it with dog whistle politicians.
you're joking? they'll very much blame Sunak and Truss. if anything Johnson could lead a revival party, many think he's the best thing since Thatcher.

For a blue or a red, falling behind Farage's limited company in the polls has to be a catastrophe.

So on this occasion. Fukk 'em.

Johnson defecting to Reform would be an massive move.
And an massive surprise. Farage is provincial and new money. He may know his beers but he won't know his Arras from his elbow.

Johnson isn't right wing, or left wing or even centre.
He just moulds himself to whatever is best for him.
He's of the right, very much so, just like his mate across the pond. Anyone that subscribes to the great man view of history which they both do is necessarily of the right.

Jeremy Hunt said Liz Truss’s economic ambitions were a “good thing to aim for” and her disastrous mini-budget hadn’t left an impact on the economy, according to two leaked recordings obtained by the Guardian.

The chancellor was recorded at a meeting of students when he said he was “trying to basically achieve some of the same things” as the former prime minister, but that he was doing it “more gradually”.

That just about sums it up……….
