“But I faced the most almighty backlash for those conservative policies that I tried to put in place from the usual suspects in the media, from the usual suspects in the corporate world and also from people that were meant to work for the government. The Office of Budget Responsibility, The Bank of England - these sorts of organisations sought to undermine the policies”

OBR - stated purpose: To provide independent and authoritative analysis of the UK’s public finances
BoE: has also been given independence in relation to fiscal stability.

Did she not know?
Utterly off her rocker.

And what will Rishi do about one of his own MPs launching a racist rant on TV? My guess is “f*** all”.

Sitting Tory MPs are so desperate they are now reverting to 'hate crimes'. The three posts above are clear unequivocal proof. I'm guessing we'll find out whether the British judiciary is independent of the political intentions of the Government ?

I don't know why i put a question mark. Anyone who is actually capable of understanding the question knows the answer ???

They keep barrelling down past where you believe the bottom can be. Sadly I’m not even surprised any more.
One of the oddities about the Khan hate is the majority comes from outside London.

He's hardly perfect, but this whole "Londonistan" thing has gone on for years unchecked. Sorry for those non Londoners who hate him, but with the second Tory candidate liking posts about Enoch Powell he's likely to get back in with an increased majority.

Some tough questions for Sunak next week. I'm deeply uncomfortable in the current climate to draw comparisons, but if the same comments were made about Jewish influence (in any party) or the colour of someone's skin they would be rightly roundly criticised and thrown out.

Those on the far left need to careful of hypocrisy too.

However did we come to this.

If only the Tories would tackle Islamophobia the way Labour has tackled antisemitism.

It renains a big issue at all levels

I've always wondered that, why Corbyn and labour were vilified for anti semitism despite him never saying anything racist or having a racist bone in his body yet the Tories being overtly islsmaphobic is fair game. They bring Hindus into their front bench as they dislike Muslims just as much and they can get away racist rhetoric

GB News is being allowed to violate broadcasting impartiality while Ofcom is failing to take tough action against the channel, senior broadcasting veterans have claimed.

They include former ITN chief Stewart Purvis and broadcaster Adam Boulton, who expressed unease over Conservative MPs fronting GB News shows, in some cases interviewing each other. They were also concerned over the prominence of Nigel Farage, who has yet to rule out an election run for Reform.

hassocks

The soon he's in the bin the better (and others like him)

He's a vile human and a massive hypercritical wanker, was quite happy to work to get Jezza into power, then moans about Labour flip flopping.

Till idiots like him in all parties are gone we can't move forward as a country.

Javid comes over like someone who is at least sensible, even if you do disagree with his views, Anderson etc will just push people like that away from the party.

Do you ever address what they say or the issue rather than indulging in personal attacks?

Because your 'issue' isn't an issue.

What she said when you move past the yellow media headlines..

"
She went on to say that “we have a major problem with our administrative bureaucracy, and I think it’s got a lot worse”.

Ms Truss added: “Now people are joining the Civil Service who are essentially activists, they might be trans activists, they might be environmental extremists, but they are now having a voice within the Civil Service in a way I don’t think was true 30 or 40 years ago, so we just have a wholly new problem.”

Doesn't sound to weird, in line with a 2 speed police force which Braverman pointed out.

It is very simple bullshit thrown out by two of the most dishonest, incompetent, self serving, vacuous, duplicitous 'politicians' I have ever had the misfortune to experience, in a desperate attempt to feign some sort of relevance with their target audience. Which is why I have attacked them
