I absolutely cannot trust a man who has a Santa Monica beachfront penthouse apartment and isn't sat in the lounge right now.

Most of the dirt is already out there on Johnson and if you still support him now you will still support him. Sunak is a different kettle of fish, his personal rating isn't too bad versus the wider Tory party.

Johnson is still deeply bitter he got kicked out of office and wants to take the ship down with him. He's done with calcs and considers there is more for him personally to gain than those.

At least the press have stopped talking about Philip Schofield (yawn)
Johnson doesn't think he's done in my view.

Of course he is, but he is convinced that party and country want him riding in on a white charger to save the day for the tories. To do this, the incumbent needs to be unseated.

I see Sunak is doing his weekly “I will do whatever it takes to stop the boats” speech again today.

Whatever it takes it seems except f***ing off out of it and letting someone with a clue have a go.

Sunak said we can't increase wages as we must get inflation down, UK inflation is worse than all the advanced economies

it's a distraction to the rampant inflation which is worse than US and EU.

Get inflation down FAILED
Integrity, professionalism, Accountability FAILED
Stop the boats FAILED

It is quite weird the way that Johnson's no 2 (ironically ), promoted to that position after less than 5 years as an MP, who was at his side throughout the complete clusterf*** of Brexit, Covid and all the other disasters, also fined for breaking their own COVID rules, personally pushed through the Eat out to help out disaster, the Green card fiasco, non doms, the illegal Government PPE 'fast path' etc etc etc

is somehow seen as less incompetent, dishonest, selfish and egotistical than the rest of the cabal :lolol:

Still, look how long it took for many to find out about Johnson, despite having had the evidence presented to them, in detail, for years before he got near real power and yet he still has supporters. And the same people who will claim 'all politicians are the same' are the ones that can't see all of this cabal really are :dunce:
is the mantra of those who supported someone who was found out to be a venal lying shit, and is inclined to continue to support them.

This proves that wages are too high. And yet the greedy NHS workers and train diving militants continue to hold the country to ransom.

Woking
Was taking a look at the Woking Council debt situation. What is the story around Victoria Square? It looks like a complete financial mess that the Greens have inherited from the Tories. What isn't clear is if this is a case of wrong investment at the wrong time, or something less competent?
My understanding of this is fairly limited. Sky News did a fairly good piece on this a couple of months back. It seems that the previous Tory led council attempted to counter a lack of central funding by engaging in property speculation as a means of diversifying its revenue streams. There doesn't seem to be any suggestion of corruption (yet). It seems they were stung by a combination of inflation pushing up construction costs and interest rates hiking the repayment charges. We're basically looking at hubris/incompetence.

Woking town centre badly needed redevelopment, as it was looking very shabby. However, it now looks shiny and empty. I tend to go to Guildford when I need "stuff" because of the better choice on offer however, when I do venture into Woking town centre there only ever seems to be a handful of folk spending money. It's all but impossible to see how the incoming LibDem leadership can steady the ship.

Edit - I should have added that Westminster has appointed the council external administrators to help oversee the debt.

You have to give it to the Tories...

They've driven up inflation and interest rates
They've created labour shortages
They've imposed trade sanctions on us
And they're doubled immigration from the EU days

But at least the national debt is down, isn't it?

Ah yes, the national debt ...... now on that .......

Silly old bat
Sunak is very likely as corrupt as Johnson. Look at all the undeclared business interests him and his wife are up to their necks in.

He’s just not as obviously Toady as Johnson.
They donated $3M to a US college last week. Now, I know it’s their money, and they can do what they want with it, once they’ve paid their taxes, but I’m sure there are colleges in Britain who could benefit.

Why did he still own a green card as Chancellor of the Exchequer, and then PM? Why did he only give it up when it was exposed? Whose interests is he really working for? USA, India, Britain,?

Not obviously Britain's. Like all of them, getting and retaining power is the sole objective.

I think I can put that one to bed. It's his own interests, first, foremost and to the detriment of anybody or anything that gets in the way of that. Exactly the same as the rest of the cabal that took over the Conservative party and then a significant number of people inexplicably decided to elect to look after the interests of Britain and the British people for five long years

It was certainly 'the deal with the devil' that a regular, respected, long standing NSCer said at the time he was prepared to do, to get what he wanted. I did point out that if only the devil was offering it, was it worth taking ? I don't know whether what we now have was what he wanted as he hasn't said anything on the subject for sometime:shrug:

As Sir Humphrey would have said about the Covid enquiry :

"Minister, two basic rules of government: Never look into anything you don't have to. And never set up an enquiry unless you know in advance what its findings will be"
I’d add to that

“ nor if you’re a crooked piece of shit who spends the taxpayers money like a whore addicted medieval land baron”

I put a 'laugh' thumbs up on your post, only in anticipation of their defenestration. I'm obviously not *happy* with their *triumphs*. The absolute disgrace of a *government*.

His own. Obviously. And like Marvin Gaye, Paul Young and, yes, Boyzone, wherever he lays his hat he calls his home.
