Agree with all you say except I can’t see labour agreeing to PR ever. It is just as much in their favour as the Tories. PR is needed but I can’t see how it will ever happen. A true catch 22
Labour may not agree with PR, but I think they would agree to a vote on if it meant being in power or not being in power.

why? because China says so? their position on Taiwan is equivilent of demanding Republic of Ireland rejoins United Kingdom. maybe if there was less pandering to China's view, they'd have accepted reality that it's an independent nation.
Most countries don’t recognise Taiwan as an independent nation including the US and the UK. It clearly is a delicate issue.

Liz Truss has no more right to represent the UK overseas than any other backbench MP. If you wouldn’t send Diane Abbott, you can’t send Liz Truss.

While I’m in broad agreement with your point here, I don’t believe Liz Truss should be going anywhere as a representative of the United Kingdom. If she doesn’t start with “It’s great to be here in Thailand…”, then that only means she’s saving a colossal ricket up for later on.

I saw nothing in her brief tenure as PM to suggest that she has a grip on reality, let alone the finer points of foreign policy.
Precisely.

I think we should be standing up to China but tasking Truss with leading on it (or interfering as an independent maverick - not sure which this is) is absolute f***ing madness.

Helping disadvantaged children is also a good cause. But would I approve if the self-appointed lead on this was Paul Gascgoine?

£100Million of land sold for £110, let that sink in.

Outside of Private Eye very little press

It's corrupt as hell.
I'm going to derive great satisfaction from voting against Houchen at the next election.
Given the way the council votes went I'd guess it's possible that he'll lose.

It's all part of Truss' attempts to portray herself as a sentient human being.
As far as I can tell, aside from choosing not to break her legs in order to stop her going, it's not something we can reasonably blame the government for.
Although it's probably a convenient distractiln from all the things we can reasonably blame them for.

The Conservative Party has expelled MP Andrew Bridgen after he compared Covid-19 vaccines to the Holocaust and was found to have breached lobbying rules.
The member for North West Leicestershire had already lost the party whip, meaning he was sitting as an independent.
But the Tories have now stripped him of his party membership as well 😁🎊🎉🎊🎉🥳
He's still an MP but now joined the Reclaim party under Laurence Fox (nutter)

His constituency should be allowed to have a by-election imo. Reclaim cannot boast of having an MP in the House of Commons. It is totally corrupt.

She
She has no right to speak for the UK any more.

The Taiwan situation is obviously very delicate. It shouldn't be used as an excuse for ego maniac politicians as a way to get back in the news.

Leave it to the actual government and the actual diplomats, FFS
should be in Prison - she has worsened the lives of many millions of our countrymen and women
Who is paying for this trip. Us I suspect 🥵

Fair enough.

That said, were it Abbott or Corbyn, the Labour party would have been dragged under a hedge by all and sundry commentators, and held under water till it confessed to being a witch.

So I'm not inclined yet to drop this as a new stick to beat the tories with. Tonk!

The government can refuse any public funding for this trip. They can announce she is not speaking on behalf of the UK.

Her constituents can publicly ask she spends her time representing them rather than dipping her oar in to something completely unrelated to her job

Can you imagine the right wing press if this as a Labour elected politician? Rothermere's rag ran 14 days in a row on Starmer's non event curry

They don't care as she has been reselected for the next election.

The Yorkshire Post has published it, and I thought I had posted something two or three weeks ago, but can't find it now. It's part of this Freeport scam.

Well. That's just her local constituency party. The electorate will hopefully reach a very different conclusion.
I'd like to think so but unfortunately, many people just vote blindly.
