The lockdown rules were imposed by the Government who said (every night on TV) "Stay Home, Protect the NHS, Save Lives". If you broke those rules then you have no care for the two outcomes at the end of that slogan.

Rules were always for the little people

Shocking.

When hundreds were dying in Italy, it was obvious the virus was coming, the Government did nothing. Well over one thousand people flew in and seeded the virus meaning thousands and thousands died needlessly because the Government were slow to protect us. Horrific.

There were frequent calls from almost everywhere, to close the borders, Johnson needed the bodies to pile high and then for him to catch it before he took the virus seriously. This odd ‘group think’ from Tory voters that the Government handled the pandemic well because they agreed to hand Oxford University a blank cheque for vaccines is as disturbing as folk saying Boris the Liar has done nothing wrong with allowing all those parties in no.10.

Some folk have short memories...

Classic response. Hindsight. For what it’s worth I thought at the time that the borders should have been shut straightaway but if they had been then I’m sure you would have popped up to complain that Johnson is anti immigration or something. I think the Government has not been hardline enough but I understand their reasoning whether I agree with it or not.

I quite agree. Not because I am concerned about a party or two, but winning the next election.

Boris will not lead the Conservatives to winning the next election.

He has done his job, he delivered Brexit. Fate was against him with COVID (I can’t see how any leader would have managed things significantly better, with tens of thousands of fewer deaths), but the priority now for the Conservatives is the next election.

Couldn't you have written 'Not because I am concerned about a party or two, but because I care about the qualities and integrity of the people running the country'?

Unlike you, I want the Tories to lose the next election. That would be best served by keeping Boris in post. But for the good of the country I want him gone. A competent, hard working government that tries to do the best for its citizens is all we can really ask for, regardless of the colour of the rosette.

“Delivered Brexit”, yeah good one. And I can see how how any leader would have managed Covid better because many have. Part of the problem with this version of the Tory party and their supporters is a complete inability to deal with facts rather than the make believe world perpetrated by Tory Central Office and No 10.

Delivering Brexit means leaving the EU. We did. The other parties were trying to prevent that from happening. These are facts.

Grant Schapps just claimed that Lulu whatsername, the designer of the flat decorations at no 11, ‘just happened along’ into the party in the cabinet room.

Does that mean she has full security clearance and freedom to wander around 10 Downing Street at will?

Surely that’s almost as worrying as her being at the party?

The British people who live in Northern Ireland don't consider 'Brexit done' all the while there is no alternative to the NIP that Johnson and Frost suggested, negotiated, signed off and have now said is unimplementable. Now that is a fact

It really doesn’t and it never did but this simply reinforces my point about this govt and its supporters living in a world where facts no longer matter whether it be Brexit, the economy, parties etc. Worst possible govt at the worst possible time.

I am a little perplexed that the media is accepting of the Downing Street version that the prime minister was "there" for less than 10 minutes.

Given that Johnson has such a vague association with the facts, wasn't at any parties, followed all rules at all times, the accuracy of this recollection is strangely at odds with every other version of his truth as presented, including the accuracy of his recollection of the location of the event. (It seems to have been friends of his family in the cabinet room).

It may be true, I have no means of telling, but it seems a strange thing to offer him the benefit of the doubt on. The only conclusion is that it is immaterial and whether he likes it or not he is soon to be relieved of office.
In the interests of balance, the media know these leaks are also coming from Dominic Cummings, who they can't completely trust either.

It's one poison in the process of driving out another poison. Where are the 'right behind Boris' acolytes on here when they are needed to make a case for the defence?

The Sun are finally getting interested in the party story although I suspect it’s the headline they’ve chosen that promotes it to their lead story on their website. However, the narrative is hardly damning.

They still support the PM but I wouldn’t be surprised if they ditch him if the Tories have a vote of no confidence.

Now you’re just being silly. Stopping thousands of Italian football fans going to Anfield and cancelling Cheltenham races (organised by waster of £37billion, Dido Harding) isn’t anti immigration.

It means leaving the EU, that’s it. What we subsequently do with it is up to electors via their chosen politicians in future elections.

So promises made before the Referendum in support of Leaving don't need to be kept. I see.

'Leaving the EU' means 'Leaving the EU'. That's it. Delivering Brexit promised much, much more...

Remember the oven-ready deal?

What we subsequently did was left up to Johnson when he was voted in with a majority hence, no single market membership, no solution to Northern Ireland, Fishing Industry decimated, Exporters hamstrung etc etc

He was voted in with completely free reign to decide exactly what he wanted Brexit to look like and to run the country for the next 5 years. I'm stunned by the number of people who voted for all this 2 years ago and now don't want what they voted for
