I just pointed out that their support of Liz Truss obviously had no bearing on her original position on Brexit.

Another trait among Brexiteers, aside from prickliness, is an overriding tendency to rewrite history.

In that post you reference, I made no reference whatsoever to the success or failure of Brexit.

But you went in with guns blazing, accusing many of us of being incapable of seeing the 'big picture', with the obvious inference that you can see it. Are you able to see your mistake?

Truss - ‘I came into this debate thinking Truss was one of the least impressive politicians of my lifetime. My impression of her has deteriorated since then.’

And Badenoch: ‘attrocious. Noticably of her depth in what is, after all, an intellectual paddling pool.’

Too simplistic DS, Brexit for many of us wasn't a quick fix, very few of us believed that, most people knew that the effects would be with us a long term. My change of opinion however has nothing to do with economics.

Now you are taking the piss. It was sold as a quick fix, the impact would only be positive. Interesting that your change is not economic because the argument for leaving was in reality purely political (safe guarding borders, taking control), so why?

As foreign secretary I like the way she stood up to Putin while the eu dithered. She has worked tirelessly to create trade deals Worldwide, brought 10 billion pounds worth of investment into the country by bringing together the World's largest investors to a meeting. Another billion pound expansion to Nissan UK that many feared would leave these shores after Brexit and she was the first one I've heard to have the balls to say she would suspend the green tax on fuel. Unfortunately she is not a performer like Boris, more of Theresa May in that regard but I think/hope she will be the strong leader this country needs right now. Obviously this won't be a popular opinion on this forum but that is how I see it. Who do you think should lead this country and why?

Thanks for taking the time to post that detailed response. I do take issue with the points you raise, I see her no more than a lightweight stooge; I absolutely cannot see her being a strong leader. The fact she isn't a performer, like Boris, isn't really a factor, non of them are.

Of the five standing I think any of the other four are a significant level above and would do a much better job. Personally, either Tugendhat or Mordaunt would get my vote if I had one. I do like the cut of Badenoch's jib though.
