Genuinely hilarious! They are indeed totally bonkers

I feel I have to stand up and defend the Cabinet and Senior members and Lords, appointees and SPADS of the Conservative party. At least they are still pocketing huge amounts of taxpayers contributions through their various schemes, Government contracts, U-turns, Fast track programmes, insider trading etc.

There are those who are still supporting and defending them that don't have a few business start ups with various Government contracts or serious holdings with various disaster capitalists, sitting at Gatwick long term, waiting for their fares, wanting to retire 'abroad' and now can't, getting shafted on a daily basis hoping they can afford their bills and getting so angry at what's happening.

Now they are TOTALLY BONKERS

..but I have to say I grudgingly admire Mordaunt.

For what.... ?

Mordaunt is a random "cult favourite" with some of the base who many people not that interested in politic would struggle to recognise.

Who ? You know the one who came on in the last 15 minutes and scored that hat-trick against Man United in the league cup and was never...

Sorry, the one who wore that pound land uniform at the coronation and hit the king over the head with a light sabre.

I referred to her rhetorical skills in her treatment of Angela Rayner. But yes you’re right, she was apparently one of the stars at the coronation too.

The speech where she defended the Tories over accusations of COVID Cronyism? That aged well.
The one where Angela was sitting on her own and halfway through, pulled up her face mask as if trying to hide. I don’t recall ever seeing Rayner look so defeated. She was like a naughty schoolgirl being told off by a furious head teacher.

A fair comment if aimed at pretty much any other Tory but I have to say I grudgingly admire Mordaunt. Her put-down of Angela Rayner in the Commons that time was really remarkable. The only time I've seen Ange reduced to submission like that.
So memorable nobody else can remember it?
Mordaunt is as big a liar as the rest of them. She insisted that Turkey joining the EU was imminent, that no country had a veto, and that Portsmouth doesn’t have any food banks.
According to Madam, they are food pantries and photo opportunities.

Imagine, being so arrogant, when your constituents are starving, you want to be photographed there.

Grayling next Tory MP to stand down at next election.

I think that's now 50 if you include the odd one who had the whip withdrawn.

Edited: Has been diagnosed with cancer and has stepped down. Hope his treatment goes well.
He's had it and it did. Now he's decided that - quite rightly - there's more to life than politics.

From the BBC article: 'In the statement Mr Grayling said: "Earlier this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and although the treatment has been successful, it has prompted me to think that after 22 years it is time for a change."'

A great example of "it's not what you say, but how you say it" *. I've watched the exchange you refer to and her delivery is good (especially when compared to some of her colleagues who'd struggle to deliver a pizza). Watching that pound-shop Mussolini performance at Conference it seems like she's lost the knack.

*"Lots of research supports this — for example, a landmark UCLA study showed that gestures count for a whopping 55% of the impact you have on an audience, while your tone of voice makes up 38%. Your words? A measly 7%. So the non-verbal part of your presentation accounts for 93% of its impact!" More here

Oh, well it was quite a big news story at the time. I saw it first on Newsnight and watched the full clip on YouTube. I’m not really interested in her politics, or anyone else's TBH. That wasn’t what was interesting about the confrontation.

Well if you think the Tories are delusional the Reform spokesman on BBC news thinks the Conservatives are running a socialist, pro EU government at the moment.

They also seem to think they're the party of change despite Farage being at the Tory conference and seemingly writing Tory policy for the last 5 years

I wasn't sure whether to post this on the Covid thread but this is more mainstream at the moment. Live from the covid enquiry.
