This is utterly outrageous, tying the hands of future government when they (as they inevitably will) revise the scheme. Hopefully someone uses this as an excuse to route HS2 right through Rishi Sunak's front room.
I wonder what sort of people will buying this absurdly cheap land? Perhaps the same people who invented PPE acquisition businesses overnight, got gold plated government contracts and then failed to procure the right equipment but have never been held to account on their ill gotten millions.

It's probably big enough to accommodate it and still find room for his grand piano

Probably the same folk who were handsomely compensated for having to sell it via compulsory purchase. Win win win.

Apparently one of the projects which will benefit from the cancellation of the northern leg of HS2, according to the Government, is the project to extend the Manchester tram network to Manchester Airport.

This tram line opened in 2014.

10% of Tory funds come from property developers. Just saying

Yes, they have the full weight of the media on their side. Plus the Conservative vote is always underestimated when polling day comes round.
No it isn't. Polling companies are in competition with one another and have reputations to uphold.
See 1997 and 2017 as just 2 counter instances.
They start off with 'raw data' and then adjust according to numerous factors. Each has its own set of factors. Opinium for example is more stringent in the direction you mention which is why they consistently churn out lower Labour leads than the rest of the polling companies

Apparently there wasn't an emergency Cabinet meeting this morning to agree the policy changes in this afternoon's PM's speech.

Nice to know that we are now set on a well thought out considered and long term plan rather than the last minute panicked decisions of the cabal of Johnson, Truss and Sunak trying to keep power at any cost ...... Oh

You've gotta really give it some to stand out at Tory Conference. Penny M doesn't disappoint:

You could get more than five minutes of that in Kemp Town, in a far better outfit and for far less than the price of a Conservative Party conference ticket

Or so I've heard

She asked ChatGPT to write a Tory conference speech in the style of Braveheart? Absolutely bonkers.
If you’re going to stand on stage and use rhetoric like “Stand up and fight” you have to absolutely 100% mean it from your heart.
You can’t fake passion and that speech is a perfect example of someone reciting words they neither believe nor have a passion for.

Just finished watching the excellent Channel 4 docu-drama #Partygate.

If you missed it, watch it on catch up, it will became a defining television programme.

How am I meant to get to sleep now, being this angry.
Just watched it on catch up, a timeline of what we were all doing while they were taking the piss.

It's a party who have nothing to offer, nothing interesting to say and completely out of touch with public feeling
