I can't believe Cameron wouldn't know someone was paying £200k to have dinner with him.

How much will he want to have an enquiry in to it?

Do you really think that ANY politicians are honest? They, like lawyers, estate agents and solar panel salesmen are compulsive liars.

Reminds me of a scene in The Sopranos , when Tony Soprano's cousin Christopher Moltisanti has to pick up the tab for a table of 8 :lolol:

So what? Its unprovable, any enquiry will be rigged. Unless you can catch em passing envelpoes its all political noise.

Do we need any MORE evidence to demonstrate that the Tories look after their own?

What I think is more interesting is that the British business class used to believe that the way to keep rich was to manufacture goods for (or supply services to) the mass of the population, who would happily hand over whatever surplus cash they had. These days, the way to riches seems to have shifted towards a wish on the part of the capitalist class to be given lucrative contracts by their friends in government to provide services to the public. The potential for corruption in this new arrangement is much greater.

i can. at least not in the manner that has come up today. donors pay money, donors have meetings/drinks/dinners with senior politicians. they know there is a quid pro quo going on, so and so at a dinner has been a big donor at and he'd know that. they all do this, and remember Labour donors actually select the party leadership. at issue here is if money is paid specifically for access. or rather was the access touted, sold as a service for the money "donated". the chap involved resigned rather sharpish as he know he'd been operating outside the subtle boundries.

though i do have to wonder... what will come out of this will be closer scrutiny, guidlines and maybe even legislation on how parties are funded. the party with the most to lose here is Labour, with their large block donors, and i do wonder if this isnt a patsy mission to drive that agenda, with a handy timing to divert the news cycle from the pension allowance brouhaha.

Too many scandals coming out at the moment. Cameron needs to call a general election and let the people decide to vote in a real working government.

Indeed. People seem to forget that the Labour Party was established by the Trade Unions to pursue the political interests of the millions of Trade Union members and their families. Nothing wrong with that, of course (apart from the fact that New Labour and the Miliband party isn't interested in delivering). But equating trade union funding for the Labour Party with the activities of individual businessmen on the make who want to buy personal favours from this government is fundamentally mistaken.

What is the difference between Labour and the Tories?

For the life of me I can't remember what it was or what it is now.

As other people have said Con, Lib, Lab they are all as bad as each other.

So the next question is what are you going to do about it?

Are you going to carry on with life and just hope things get better or are you going to make a change, hopefully for the better and vote for someone else?

Same as Labour did as well (Bernie Ecclestone anybody! :D)

It doesn't matter who is in power, business/rich/poor/unions/etc. will all try to get the ear of senior politicians.

As much as I can no longer stand the Tories, let's not forget scandals in the past with various unions brown-nosing the Labour party. They're all as bad as each other. Can't bloody stand main-stream politicians these days.
