Interestingly the Conservatives gained 13 Councils in May this year with +235 councillors while Labour lost 8 councils - 327 Councillors. Anyway, time to focus on more important matters.

thanks mate , i'm 56 , all of my mates who went in the army after school topped themselves , 5 of them , this is not a governmental issue as much as an m.o.d .........very hard to leave the army without a medical discharge , very hard to get anything from the govt. if you've done anything but.......my cousin was in Rawanda and Timor with the Aussie SAS ......hes a ****ing basket case ....have a good day..

and no one fuels hatred towards the homeless , it's the system that puts them there thats wrong.

1. From a campaigning perspective, I think she's won a couple of by-elections (and a Lib-Dem has jumped on board) and raised the profile of the Worthing Labour party. I really don't think they could have done much better than they have of late. 10 out of 10?

2. In terms of policy outcomes it's probably early days yet. I can't be specific but it seems that they are coming up with some ideas for the future of Worthing and contesting some of the Tory policies (e.g. Portland Rd.). You'll have to do your own homework on this.

3. She speaks well, isn't given to outbursts at Council meeting and works diligently on committee work (I've seen this at first hand). She's good on TV talking about her day job.

4. I think you are right that she has stood before, but Loughton's majority has narrowed, so in-roads have been made.

5. Students of political history will point to many distinguished parliamentarians who have been unsuccessful in their early attempt at getting elected.

6. I only said they 'could do worse' than choose her which is a bit of damning with faint praise. I actually think she'd make a very credible candidate and MP. For one thing, she's had a proper job and isn't some sort of party functionary groomed for the role from leaving uni (or a bloody journo). Being young and a woman won't hurt her chances either.

But let's await the May local govt elections eh?

And in 2019 Loughton got 51% share of vote in EW&S (first time over 50% since the constituency was formed) - a 2.2%+ swing. Labour's share was down 2.3% - and this was with a huge local campaign by Labour.
