Spun Cuppa

Thanks Greens :(
I might be mixing up me Sham 69/Buzzcocks

Random Buzzcocks memory: A 'pal' of mine putting on 'Ever fallen in love...' on a pub jukebox after his bird had told him I'd sorted her and him theatrically flouncing out of said boozer. He got his revenge by sorting my then bird a bit later :lolol:

Happy daze

I pulled a fat bird who'd taken part in a wet t-shirt competition on the stage. (She lost).

I was there for that . Circa 1990 . All the girls had to get in a shower. There were a few hideous ones though if I remember. 'Do you want to see so and so in the shower' Great times.

Remember Razor the head bouncer?

:flounce::flounce:

BUZZCOCKS HAD INSTRUMENTS NICKED SAW THE DRUM GETTING ROLLED UP WEST STREET! POLICE HAD TO CLEAR THE DANCE FLOOR WITH TRUNCHEONS WHILE GETTING PELTED FROM THE BALCONY! MAD MEMORIES!:flounce

A bit ott there, but not by much. The cops had to clear the place but the roadies were getting pelted not the ob. It was almost empty by the time they showed up. Instruments were knocked over and mics getting yelled into. The heavy stack of speakers got pushed off the balcony, and all because the Buzzcocks had enough of being gobbed at by thick punks who thought that's what was 'in' at the moment - and so they refused to return for any encore.
'Don't blame them either.

The support? Warsaw, who were soon to change name to 'Joy Division'.

I saw loads of bands there in the seventies, and a couple on return trips much later in time.

Genesis (3rd on the bill, got banned from all TRS's that night for using pyrotechnics), Mott The Hoople, AC/DC with Bon Scott, Scorpions, Ultravox w/John Foxx, The Pirates (post Johnny Kidd), Chilli Willi & Red Hot Peppers, UFO, The Clash, Ride (loudest! I saw some young kid asleep in the front of a big horn speaker  ) and many more.

WENT TO SEE FLOWERED UP! MUCH LATER,GIRL FRIEND NOT THE BIGGEST FAN,SHE CURLED UP ON THE SPEAKERS AND WENT TO SLEEP! I RETURNED AT THE END OF THE GIG TO WAKE HER UP!Also recall putting her under the stairs to sleep at the top rank, the trick was to remember where we left her!:moo: I think the signs were there early on in that relationship!:drink:

I recall a few tubular ash trays getting thrown from the balcony onto the rozzers!

Are you sure it was the fuzz? I know the doormen were helpless and saw roadies retreat under a hail of missiles.

A bit of a wreck of a concert all in all. I remember nothing of 'Warsaw', if I even got there in time to see them at all - and I am sure the band rushed through their set due to the disgusting hail of phlegm.
Joe Strummer apparently contracted hepatitis from gob, and I remember him also playing The Suite, with gob dripping from his guitar neck :nono:
It must have been really bad for bands, playing provincial towns where yobs thought it was so 'punk' to gob at bands constantly while pogo-ing. Thus punk was just another faddy fashion for followers, more so than many musical genres before it. Fights and nice clobber was the mods' signature, skins it was acting well 'ard (and mobbing up, bowing and scraping to their perceived 'ardest bastard wiv the most visible nasty tats and closest crop. Tribal stuff)
