Top Gear's Clarkson suspended by BBC

Newbury, Berkshire.
what i find most odd is why the people who hate Top Gear and Clarkson don't you just switch off your television set and go out and do something less boring instead.
or is the lure to watch it and sneer at "posh "(as one poster put it) people who like cars too great.

Because I find James May and Richard Hammond vaguely informative and engaging ?

Clarkson however, I'm afraid not. He's just a clown, and not a very funny one at that.

Bring back Tiff Needell.

Oh, and Jezza, if you have a problem with the way your employer is treating you, the correct course of action is to take it up with them or your Union rep, not punch your boss in the face ( not that I'd expect you to be a Union member of course ).

I think it was an 'Assistant Producer' which is basically a tea boy. And he denies punching anyone. Not that it makes much difference.

Really? You obviously dont have a clue about boxing, Lennox Lewis was one of the the best heavyweights in the world in the last 20 odd years , let alone British boxers.

Dear Sunnymead, that was a joke. For further details you may look up " Joke " in the dictionary, hope this helps ?

Boycott WAS sacked from Sky, BBC TV and the Sun following his conviction, only being reintroduced after his recovery from cancer.

Seems a pretty extreme way of going about getting reinstated.

He denies most things.

The BBC let pedophiles get away with their crimes for years, of course they won't sack him!

Brighton factually.....
I actually find it very sad that hundreds of thousands of people have signed a petition to get him re installed without knowing the full facts..... just based on his entertainment value to them. How sad that is and shows how what some people are willing to ignore or forgive for an hours entertainment from frankly someone who has no more talent than the next man..... Why do we hold these clowns in such regard, when they behave worse than you or I.....

It's not really a petition about Clarkson though is it. It's a petition about the BBC. It was started by political blogger Guidio Fawkes who knew exactly what he was doing. He is using Clarkson to attack what he sees as a left leaning BBC.

I'd like Mr Fawkes to be held to account. What exactly does he think I as an employer should do if two of my staff get into fisticuffs? Do I just ignore it?

I'm sure lots of people signing it are Beeb bashing. It all feels predictably opportunistic.

So, an allegation has been made against an employee (on a "final warning" already - though no self respecting HR department makes that sort of thing public).

Said employee is suspended whilst the incident is investigated. So far, normal procedure as far as I can tell.

If proved true, then disciplinary action should follow as per the BBC's internal policies, presumably up to and including dismissal.
If proved false, then employee returns to work and no more is said,

I don't care what Clarkson's persona, on or off screen is like. All parties in this should be given due respect and the process allowed to proceed to its conclusion free of any bias. I know that this is a bit naive, given the public profile of the accused, but even so.

Muppets, bereft of any real facts or knowledge of the case, voting for his reinstatement?

I like Top Gear, but if he's guilty, he should be sacked. If he's not, then he shouldn't.

It is Top Gear which is the cash cow.....Not Clarkson - Surely to god an organisation like the BBC there would be no shortage of applicants who could do that job. And do it just as good if not better. Young Blood BBC - Young Blood.Think to the future

BBC a Good Organisation !. They Can't even organise hot food after a day's filming..

I say the 3 of them should ditch the shithole that is the BBC, Let them try to survive on show there pathetic Game shows, Talent ahows, And juvenile soaps!.
and find a better Broadcaster!.

My sentiments entirely. I just looked at the "sack Clarkson" petition and did not put mu name to it partly because it seems to be something old which has been resurrected, but mostly because things need to be allowed to be done properly.

If he has done something sackable, and the BBC don't sack him, what then?
