Agreed.
Brilliant TV.
Can't disagree with that at all.

Schumacher was probably the only person that Ferrari would let drive their car round the track.
Great start to the series hope the rest of it is that good
Never thought that I would hear myself saying this...but I would love to have a go with that steam engine, it looked well impressive...shovelling coal for however many hours that was, what a good workout that would be!
That would make sense. I'd be sure that, while he's clearly not the everyday Stig, he was behind the wheel of that Ferrari.
Assuming there is one normal Stig, there is no way that he could suddenly get around the track 7 seconds quicker than he's managed before. No car in the world would provide that amount of different. The difference was probably not so much about the car but about the quality of Schumacher as a driver (I couldn't stand the bloke in his F1 days, but he is doubtless a very very good driver).
be a good experience but a bit heart beaking to still come second to may. Come on
The train would have won easily in 1949 as it wouldn't have had to stop for water once back then.
What makes you think that then?

I can't believe he is the real stig as surely he can earn 10 times what the BBC pay to be a corporate host at a Grand Prix.
The Stig role would not necessarily contravene other work contracts, he has a fortune as it stands and it is probably good fun? Does everything have to be about money?
The fact that anyone thinks there is ONE Stig - let alone that it's Michael Schumacher - amazes me...
Look at it this way. You're making a TV show. You're going to get cars to take round the track at various, quite unpredictable times according to what's convenient for the manufacturer.
You then need someone, preferably a racing driver, to put the car through its paces. But racing drivers (and even ex racing drivers) tend to be busy with testing, racing, corporate events, maybe even family life, so it's going to be very tricky to always use the same one.
If you're using a different guy all the time though, comparing the times around the track doesn't work so well.... different drivers, different times. So you create one, anonymous driver and build him up into a bit of a cult hero.
A good idea, but almost certainly one that was reached for practical reasons.
