Saw Top Gear for the first time in a while, I wished I hadn't bothered. This programme has completely run out of ideas. Over the years its gone from a decent motoring programme to utter tosh. Tonight's review of the Skoda Yeti was supposed to be funny, instead it was just embarassing.

If you want to watch a programme purely about cars, don't watch Top Gear.

I agree it's probably nearing the end (how many ways can you use a car?) but it's not meant to be a serious programme, it's a comedy.

Their 'special' episodes to Vietnam, Bolivia etc are absolutely fantastic.

I doubt it because it's so popular abroad. I too enjoy the specials more than the regular programme (which I can take or leave)

Wasn't expecting much from the Christmas one, but really enjoyed it. I don't care if they continue to see how far they can race each other in crap cars as long as they visit interesting places.

Yes I agree some of the specials haven't been bad, but even these are looking long in the tooth now....

It ceased to be a serious programme years ago, bits of fun to be had but no longer a "must see".

It's still worth a watch on a Sunday evening but agree that it's showing its age now.

As he said though, the 'specials' are brilliant.

you must have missed the last decade of Top Gear, because it hasnt been a "motoring programme" since the old format with Tiff Needel, Quentin Willson etc. in that time it has been a quality peice of ligth entertainment based around cars, three blokes acting like lads in a proverbial sweetshop or cars and related toys.

I doubt it because it's so popular abroad. I too enjoy the specials more than the regular programme

i heard this was the last series? the specials (bar the last one, getting tired now) have been brilliant, happily watch them repeated on Dave.

I always watch Top Gear until they start trashing cars and Hammond starts his silly false laugh. So I've probably watched an hour of it. In total. Over the last ten years.

A while ago they wrecked a classic Jaguar C type through their sheer oikish ignorance. The BBC faced a claim for its repair that, I believe, totalled £200k. Wallies.

It is just light entertainment. There are much worse shows out there that people pay alot more money for via sky tv. It still has some great moments in it for me but I agree the specials are of better viewing

This.

There is light entertainment and there is light entertainment, if you don't like it switch over or off. I would rather watch a programme featuring some nice looking cars and a bit of humour, rather than something like the Y-factor packed with largely talentless attention whores...mind you that could probably describe Clarkson, Hammond and May!

I saw tonight's episode and, as a massive Top Gear fan, thought, as a new episode, I was disappointed. I regularly watch Top Gear on Dave (I am a student) and think the old episodes are the best, when they go abroad and race back to GB etc. However, I would happily watch that on Dave. There are standards, and they have dropped, Top Gear has got worse through the years.

Hear what you guys are saying but I like it. I take it for what it is, an entertinments programme based on a cars theme.

The visiit to the "redneck" southern states of the US is still my favourite.

Better than the Ice skaters on the other channel (IMO)

Contrived crap, I have no issues with it not being about cars so much, but it also fails to entertain, lots of their specials are very fake and none of them are funny.

I'd probably enjoy them if I didn't say to myself after every little scripted bit of crap "yeh but that didn't REALLY happen did it?"

Things like the trip to the 'north pole', the stig being Schumacher and the races and all that crap, I don't know how people can't see through it?

Never could take anyone seriously with a name like Quentin!!
They're all just a load of middle-aged blokes trying to be boy racers, just wish they'd grow up now cos it's tedious.
