1) Andy Johnson
2) Ian Wright
3) Attilio Lombardo
4) Jim Cannon
5) Mark Bright

The only Brighton player I would stick in my top 2000 would be Dean Saunders. I saw him play against us at the Goldstone early 80's and knew he was too good to stay there for any length of time.

No Peter Taylor?

Breathtaking, the way he demolished Chelsea in the FA Cup in 1976...

You're quite right about Taylor. Capped by England when we were in the 3rd division. But unfortunately, and probably a bit unfairly, he's tarnished his relationship with a lot of Palace fans due to the very poor stint he had with us as a manager recently. Still, a very good player.

I've never understood it about Palace and their managers. Malcolm Allison seems to have been remembered fondly as manager even though he managed them in three relegation seasons and no promotion ones. And, as you say, Peter Taylor's reputation has suffered even though he was astounding as a player for them. He never quite hit those heights with Spurs.

I'm only putting down players I've seen play live - watching them on TV really isn't the same and shouldn't be included IMO

Maradonna.
Messi
Gascoinge
Keegan
Berkamp.

Never saw Best live, or Pele.

Honourable mentions for Bryan Robson, Lineker, Dalglish, Platini and Maldini.(Plus Wardy and Booby Z!)

1) Bobby Moore - Sheer Class
2) Paul Gascoigne - Skill and enthusiasm in one.
3) Stuart Pearce - What a leader.
4) Palo Maldini - so consistence - so classy.
5) Trevor Brooking - slow as a snail but could torment defenders all day.

Good thread difficult to choose from so many.
